Well some unfortunate tweets have also come to light.

As they have with his accuser - whose story regarding not drinking alcohol also now is dubious

Vaughan hasn’t been charged with a crime

Sadly it takes very little for people to be demanding that livelihoods be ruined for things said and done ages ago

So, we can finally talk about actual cricket again.

Anderson rested for the first test, Pope in for Bairstow. I’m not going into this with high hopes but have been told I can work from home tomorrow so will no doubt accidentally end up watching all of Day 1

Anderson must be shattered he hasn’t played for months.

I've bac ked us to regain the Ashes at 4/1. Seeing that weather forecast and the fact that we may have 2 day night games makes me a bit more optimistic than I was.

If anyone lives outside the UK and Oz you can buy an Ashes pass for 20 euros from the ICC. Cracking value. Gonna try to sleep for an hour or so now before getting up at 1am for the start. Been to two tours Down Under - lost 4-1 (I think) in 99 and 5-0 in 07.

I have only just got up and seen the pitch and thought I would bowl on that and now having watched five minutes I definitely would have.

Maybe we thought we could last a little longer, with the weather forcast we could still be in it if we don't lose it tonight and get a few. Guess their innings will show all.

Looks like they might not bat today, wind and rain. Today was supposed to be better than the next couple of days, hence we batted. It might not be over yet, worse conditions to come with the fifth day looking clearish. IF we don't capitulate when they bat then a draw is reasonable

Before it even started it had that feeling of being a horror show. No Anderson, then Broad left out too. Then to decide to bat. Burns' dismissal was almost inevitable. It's going to be like 2006-7.

The decision to leave our both Broad and Anderson gave the Aussies a lift.

Especially Broad, with his record at the Gabba, and the way he bowled against Warner in the last series it was ludicrous for him not to be selected.

We know Warner can take games away from the opposition, so what do we do? Go and give him a nice confidence boost ahead of the first test. Ridiculous

Sad to think that this had happened 11 years ago almost to the day

We seem to have a real problem with edging to slip. If I recall, wasn't that the theme from the last Ashes series?

I don’t know how they will most of the youngsters will want to follow the money in the short form.
Yep. Morgan has a better ECB contract than Root!! But 650k for a Test central contract is still good money. I wonder how much money these white ball specialists (that go round a few of these T20/T10 competitions) make now on top of the Hundred and domestic T20 money
The other problem (same as the last Ashes tour) is no proper warm up games. 2 planned warm up games against the Lions (that were disrupted) isn't the same as playing locals used to the conditions. They've been there for a month inc the 2 week quarantine

For anyone who hasn't got BT Sport there's a 30 minute highlight program on iplayer every day, should be up about 5pm. You have to click on categories and sport to find it as for some reason they seem to have hidden it away.
