Unpopular opinion : Jamie Allen is a decent player and doesn’t deserve some of the stick he gets. He was injured for most of last season and when he came back he was quite good (imo at least) and this year he hasn’t been too bad. Yes, he gives the ball away and yes, he makes mistakes but he isn’t as bad as he is made out to be

Clever footballer with decent energy. Unfortunately he is another little 'un who gets outmuscled on the ball a bit too often at this level. If we've got O'Hare and Hamer in the squad, I'd prefer we replace Allen with a more physical, athletic player.

Not sure if that’s an unpopular opinion? Also don’t think he gets too much stick does he? Probably not quite championship standard but don’t think he’s a bad player. If we had gone down I would have kept him, as it is, we may look to move him on. Would wish him well and thank him for his 2 years

I agree. I'm not convinced the way we've played this season has helped him, either. Does seem like he might have fallen out with Robins somewhere though, as he'd just started imposing himself on games, and was promptly dropped!

I had high hopes for him last year and think he’s definitely worth keeping.
There are smaller players where their size doesn’t seem to matter too much, unfortunately, on this seasons performances, that doesn’t seem to be the case for Allen. Maybe he is in the wrong position but I’d have thought just behind the the forwards would have suited him.

Barely seen him spoken about. Presuming because it's widely accepted he's not the answer in the Championship. Probably a very good league one player.

I dont think he has had too much stick tbf.
Hes a decent player, but probably more suited to league 1 than the championship, and if he stays here I really cant see where he would get a game, especially now Jodi Jones is on the way back to fitness, and no doubt new arrivals to come.

It’s a tough world. Footballers at the top level either make it or don’t.

Following the thought process:

I can’t think of a team in the Premiership he would be able to hold down any kind of place.

Therefore he’s not a Premiership standard player.

Is there any team in the Championship that he could do well in? I’m struggling there too.

Therefore he’s not a Championship standard player.

He might do ok in a team in L1 or L2.

With that in mind, he needs to move on.

Sorry and all that.

I agree dont think hes had a fair crack this year and when he did get a chance he scored. Problem we have is there has been no space for him in the midfield

Played well in our run in last season .. I think the championship is slightly beyond his ability overall .

Appreciate his effort here, but would benefit from league 1 first team football

I think he is far more suited to playing either side of a midfield 3 rather than as a 10.

He is a top league one player and maybe could cut it with the right team in the championship. Doesn’t seem like that team is us

He’s not good enough at this level, and it’s his size which holds him back. If we want to move forwards then unfortunately Allen needs to be moved on. You can’t compare with O’Hare or Hamer, they might be small but physically more than capable.
Seems like a good bloke but no chance of being anything more than a back up for us.

Shipley, it’s been wonderful, I’ll remember his goals forever. But football is a ruthless business. He’s currently above his level.
Allen I’m probably 70/30, let go/keep.
Baka, Jobello, Kastaneer, Hilssner. Deadwood, on your bike. Hope we can find a way to offload them.

Not quite physical enough and not quite quick enough. Shame as he’s a workhorse but needs to be moved on. Top League 1 player

I think he is a decent player. He struggled early season which I think was due to the lack of pre season. He was unfortunate that just as he was picking up some form he was left out of the team. I think he makes the perfect sub for O'Hare or replacement if O'Hare needs a rest. I don't think they can play together because they both lack physique. I think there is more to come from him so would keep him at the club.

He reminds me of Lameiras in some ways. Not in terms of of his skill or technical ability but rather that he's the type of player that needs a quite specific style of play built around him for him to prosper. Moving the ball direct into the strikers and expecting him to feed off knock downs or longer passes into him just doesn't suit him and exposes his lack of physical attributes. He needs options around him to play pass and move football and we just don't have the budget for that and with the Championship full of 6ft 2 monsters it would take us several season to build that. Enjoyed watching him last year, hope he can get a move to a Portsmouth or Charlton type club.
