Am I really guilty of flouting NOPM ?? (1 Viewer)

Bit of a dilemma here - I have subscribed to the CCFC Website for a number of years at today''s cost of £38 per annum and particularly taking advantage of he "Sky Blues Player" highlight facility.

in a fit of pique I cancelled my subscription a couple of weeks ago in accordance with NOPM and anti SISU retaliation BUT I suddenly realised surely I am cutting my nose off etc denying my only contact with the actual playing side of things at CCFC.

The normal coverage is 20 minutes for "extended highlights" which gives you a good feel for all the goals and attempts at goal (slight contractual problem at moment hence no commentary but will be resolved shortly).

So I have renewed my membership and now look forward to seeing our heroes smacking 'em in from all angles - a joy to behold.

So am I guilty or not ???

yes of course sisu will get some money but you should do what makes you happy, you are going to notice yourself missing it much more than sisu will notice the few pounds. I canceled mine though.

Well clue is in the title - Not One Penny More ! The real question is do you feel guilty about it or indeed should you feel guilty? If it is something you enjoy and it is something you desire to have does it matter what others think? The same could be asked of those who actually go! Certainly if you base your decision based on the opinion of a few trolls with their own agenda then you have to question the basis of that decision.

Personally I will not give another penny to sisu through any means. Whilst the team is in northampton it doesn't feel like it is coventry city, it feels like supporting northampton town. And sadly like when you are deprived of any form of addictive substance, absence turns to disinteret. The longer it is out of the city, the less inclined I feel to support the club I supported for nearly 40 years. Whilst it is in northants it is NOT coventry city!

And sadly the people self proclaimed trying to save the club have little idea how to achieve this. You ain't gonna buy a club by selling armbands at £1.75 ONLINE!

Do whatever you want to do. If you do feel pangs of guilt though, an apparent workaround is to subscribe to another league club's player as someone here said that it gives you access to the whole network anyway. Not sure if that's true, but you could test by trying to watch the highlights on another club's site.

Do what you want mate...but to answer your own question...Yes you are flouting it. I cancelled mine at a cost of £45 per year, and am totally out of contact with the Football now.

SISU with a slight contractual problem - heard that before.
will be resolved shortly - heard that before too.

The service is rubbish anyhow IMHO and all the information and videos you can obtain from elsewhere.

Your a grown man. Do what you see fit! The major problem is the peer pressure these fans are doing promoting the NOPM making fellow fans feel this way. Its wrong.

Are they going to put commentary in soon again then? Must say considering it's 2013 the quality of the footage is shocking, if you enlarge the video on your comp you can't see a thing.

Does it not have any HD option? If you're paying for online footage you'd expect at least 720p as a bare minimum.

Not much of a moral dilemma, if you want it, get it, don't worry about people who may judge you... I personally wouldn't buy it, money I'd rather keep in my pocket tbh!

I don't think the 10p a day or whatever it costs, is going to fill the vacuum left in the club's finances...

Its better to have a SBW membership which will be paying them peanuts rather
than buying match day tickets which will feed their filthy pockets more

There is no consistency either. One game they have 20 mins extended highlights, another they 5 goals packed into a 1 min 40 vid.

I pay enough for Sky Sports, you can very often watch the goals on that, not to mention the FL show ! Who wants to listen to a load of cringeworthy badge/ass kissing type interviews anyway?!

To be honest, if ACL don't start showing a bit of willingness to bring us back then I may start going to Sixfields. Maybe I picked the wrong side in this argument after all. All I keep seeing is sarcastic comments from PWKH. A bit of action required please.

So how can ACL talk to SISU if Joy won't talk to ACL?

Who's pressurising fans?
Too camps of thought, debating. I have never seen any pressure other than gentle persuasion.

You will always get the odd idiot but its not the majority on here.

(for anyone's interest this was reply from CCFC to my concerns about picture and sound quality)

Hi John

Sorry for the delayed response. Please find a response to your questions below...

1, Free Radio previously supplied our match commentary which they provided after the game as an MP3 file for us to overlay on to the highlights for editing. Because Free Radio are not currently covering games we are working on an alternative. We fully intend to reinstate commentary over the highlights however because BBC Cov and Warks do not archive the full match commentary we are working with them to tryand provide this for future fixtures. We hope to have a solution in place for the extended highlights against Shrewsbury Town.

2, Player does not allow us to upload high definition video because of the streaming limitations both on the Player server and also the amount of users that do not possess an internet connection to support streaming at the speed required. Therefore our final converted video is done so at a lower quality than HD which solves the afore mentioned problems.
We appreciate the quality issue but also need to balance that against constant buffering which I'm sure you will agree is often more of a frustration than the video quality.
This has been highlighted given our new presence on You Tube where we have been regularly uploading HD quality content. We are working with Perform to try and bridge that gap as soon as possible.

2, In terms of when highlights can be released, as per all clubs' agreement with the Football League and rights holders BBC and Sky we are duty bound to abide by a 'holdback' period which prevents us from uploading match highlights until after 12pm the following day. Of course you can appreciate that extended highlights take a while longer to edit and present for launch so we aim to have these available the following day as well and as close to 12pm as physically possible.

I hope the above answers yours questions and I would just like to send you a personally thank you for re-subscribing to Sky Blues Player. The more subscribers we have the more we can invest on constantly improving our online offering so your support is greatly appreciated.

Equally if you have any other questions or feedback going forward I would love to get it from yourself as constructive feedback from our subscribers is invaluable.

I look forward to any future emails you may send.

Best Regards

SISU don't want to come back without gifting them the Ricoh.

If you are worried about breaking the NOPM but still want Sky Blues Player subscirbe to another football clubs player - with player youu can access any club with the same log in. (but that of course means giving your hard earned money to some other random club)

but I will say the media side of CCFC are doing a fantastic job at the minute so i'm staying subscribed.

Telling people they're 'killing' the club* is a bit stronger than gentle persuasion. At best it's mawkishly tugging on heart-strings.

* this isn't meant to reference or accuse you, just in case it reads that way

That's persuasion. You have to listen to other peoples opinions of what particular actions could be, make your own mind up and do what you think is best for you (and hopefully your club)
Calling people scabs as they enter the ground would be a no no.

Im not accusing you either but I must argue your point. I have seen various threads on here where people have been proper slagging other fans off who have commented on going to games at Sixfields, calling them scabs and im not even talking about the fans on the hill/outside the ground who I have heard abused fans getting off coaches going in. You call that persuasion?

As per above yes you would be giving a few quid to Sisu, so you are 'flouting NOPM' If you are happy with that fair enough, I wouldnt.

The reality of the present Northants situation is probably:

1. A few more thousand Cov fans have simply given up on the club for the foreseeable. We probably now have a hardcore fan base of 7k or so, i.e. Sisu have lost more than half our fanbase in 5 years
2. Out of the 7k about 1500 are going to Sixfields, the rest either NOPM, KCIC or cant make it.
3. The biggest revenue issue is probably the fans lost for years to come, but Sisu couldnt give a shit about that, they seem happy setting us up as a League 1 club.

Things like 'killing the club/what will you tell the grandkids' or talking about morals and the war is overdramatic and completely in place of any kind of persuasion. There's little difference between that and calling people scabs.
