My feelings is that the Chaplin deal is over now that Bakayoko is through the door.

I've heard we enquired about Bakayoko before but at that point the money Walsall wanted was too much. The fact he's now in the building makes me think he was the one that could happen very quickly that Robin's talked about. My opinion is that this means the end to Chaplin deal. How would he even fit now?
On money grounds only. As a player seems more a JCH / Max type - we still need nippy striker

I’m going all out, and saying I like him. I trust MR and the other managers who bid or were interested I am certain they know better than us. Said before think we are going to be a threat up front. Still want and hopeful of Chaplin coming in.
When did a manager ever know any better than the fans?

George Thomas had a record that was similar to Bakayoko in his best season! Adebola's best season here he got 12, he got single figures in his others.

As long as we have one striker who can hit between 10-15 goals, we’ll be fine. The likelihood of us finding a 28 goal a season striker is ridiculously low. I doubt McNulty would’ve scored many more than 15.

How is it some of you writing him off before a kick of a ball on a Cov shirt? His record only starts when he plays for us . Last year I said similar about McNulty and look how that turned out . He looks like he can play so give him a break guys , if he is reading this forum it will knock the shit out of his confidence. Good luck to him welcome fella and we wish you the best of luck

The key to success is to be able to play on the wing.

He’s destined to fail.

If a few no-marks with ridiculous usernames destroys his confidence by pointing out his career to date, then he won't exactly have the temperament to cope with a hostile atmosphere at the Stadium of Light or elsewhere.
It's completely different being slagged off by your own fans and being abused at away grounds.

Two weeks ago I said Robbins should have moved on from Chaplin people on here said he would have possible targets lined up I'm unimpressed since then with his dealings judging by comments on here I'm not the only one I said we should sign quality instead of quantity we seem all of a sudden be to able to SPEND money on a player with players in the squad able to cover his position ,We need goals in the team 1 in 10 isn't no good .As for letting Ponticelli go out on loan forget it he is needed here as I've said before best goals per games of any striker on our books and we have a few now. People said I and others were panicking. Here we are two weeks later is the team any stronger? I do hope I'm proved wrong

With all due respect, how would you know we’re not signing quality players? You’ve not seen any of these players play.

Last season, Hiwula scored 12, Bakayoko scored 9, JCH scored 9 in his last season in L1. If your requirement is 20+ goals, you’ll be disappointed because only 2-3 players do so every season. Also, the teams of these players who scored 20+ last season didn’t even make the playoffs.

I’m going to reserve my judgement until about 10 games in. I certainly don’t see the use in making knee-jerk decision on players I’ve yet to see kick a ball.

Never said I wanted 20 goals from 1 player .JCH by theway has never scored 9 gaols in any season in division 1 let alone his last season . Like I said I hope I'm proved wrong

How many goals had MC goldrick got for forest before he came here . New start for the kid give him a chance to win us over .
Ha, not again....must be the 5th or 6th of these in the past few days.

McGoldrick always gets rolled out whenever we are signing a forward with a poor reputation, but he had played at a higher level and was a quality product of the Southampton production line. I was really excited by his signing as were my mates and brothers-the only negativity I saw about it was on here! Whereas this bloke seems, from any objective evaluation of his career to date, to be rubbish, and in no way matches the specifications of what we need from a striker at this moment in time. He does seem to represent a massive waste of valuable, rare (for CCFC) transfer fee. The only logic behind it that I can see is that he intends to play him as a wide forward, in which case hopefully there is an actual goalscorer coming in as well. But even then, it's an awful lot of money for a player with a poor record and reputation.

I should make that my sig to save time, but it could be too long!

Thomas was younger, in his first full season and almost always played out wide. Adebola had 70 goals in 250 games for Blues and Crewe and had a good reputation there-I'd seen him have some great games for them, including giving top flight opposition the runaround in a televised cup game. Not only that, but he was awesome in the earlier versions of Championship Manager so I was delighted when we signed him! There is quite literally no comparison...

I don’t think we have the money for a proven 20 goal a season man and if you were at Yeovil at the start of last season you wouldn’t think in million years McNulty would have gone on to be the calm finisher he turned into. He was shite that day and actually did hit a barn door.
Perhaps MR see’s something in the two lads he’s brought in up front and backs himself to turn them into something similar to McNulty.
Let’s give them a chance and hope he’s proved right.

And there were at least two clubs willing to pay very decent money for him at this level. Robins has said there was significant interest from other clubs, not just 'a' club, other clubs, so other teams are seeing something in him.

Are both Coventry City and Bristol Rovers deluded?

Robins clearly sees something in him and we need to least give him a chance and not diss him completely before he has even got his foot through the door.

It may have been mentioned but I wonder if Leeds are still interested in Jodi Jones and Bakayoko has been bought to fill his shoes when he departs ?! Leaving us still looking for a striker and arguably having sold our two best players.

I don't understand why clubs have sprawling scouting set-ups when they can obviously just look on Wikipedia to work out if a player is any good or not.
take a look a mcnultys wiki, harry kanes wiki callum wilsons wiki even david mcgoldricks wiki if you looked at them before they done what they done when give the chance i guess you would have missed out on some quality players.

Think they were interested but I’m sure they have had a change of manager since.

Seems a really odd signing. He’s also the only player I’ve ever seen to look crap even on a “best bits YouTube clip”. He just never looks like he is in control of the ball.

More that trademark Coventry City Paranoia. No, that’s clearly not going to happen because Jones won’t be fit before the end of the transfer window.
