The same fans who were criticising Robins week in week out now can find no reason to explain why he would be sacked.

Or maybe the 90% of the fans loudly saying they didn’t want him sacked, and chanting his name at every game to let fookin Doug King know that.

I feel if we did go up we wouldn't find it particularly enjoyable, as we'd almost certainly get our arse handed to us most weeks. I think it would have been more enjoyable knowing we'd done it with MR at the helm all the way through the leagues.

But that doesn't mean I'd rather us not get promoted at all.

Yet we still got out of L2 and L1 and got within a penalty of getting out of the Championship.

I think everybody would have liked Robins' tenure to end differently to this but unfortunately it hasn't.

This is precisely it, for me. It’s futile at this point, to speculate either way, as if we get the right manager in, he could finish the work that MR started.

Then again, the club could rue the day they sacked him, in the name of ‘progress’.

Time will tell, but I can guarantee one thing: Robins will be checking our news and results first, every week.

We want to get into the Premier League and Doug has decided that Mark is not likely to get us there and therefore has made a change.

Whilst many of us don’t like to see Mark go i thought this analogy might help

We decide we want to trek through the Amazon jungle to a new destination. At the start of the journey we use a guide who hasn;’t been through the AMAZON before but he has successfully guided us through other jungles In the region.

After 2 years of trekking and millions in investment we were further away from the destination than when we started.

We therefore take the decision to swap guides to someone who has a track record of getting through the AMAZON specifically.

We feel disloyal to guide one who has been great to us on previous treks but does that make the decision to swap wrong ?

It’s not my opinion but it’s not ridiculous. A girl on Twitter got pelters for saying similar and explained it as she’s not arsed about the Prem but wanted to see Robins finish the journey. Now he’s gone she’s just not arsed about the Prem. Not every fan just wants to see us as high as possible, a lot care more about the day to day experience and a manager like Robins improves that as it’s a shared journey.

There’s been a lot of pretending not to understand or recognise the emotional and community aspects of supporting a football club on here recently in some weird Millennial masculinity virtue signal.

Also people are taking anyone who says they may not go as much, or at all, anymore as being on some kind of NOPM boycott. That's nonsense, you don't have to be actively protesting or boycotting to not attend.

Pre-Robins I was reaching the end of my tether, it just wasn't enjoyable and frankly I'd reached a point where winning or losing didn't really have any impact for me. Robins pulled me back in and we can see from the attendance every week many others felt the same.

When it comes time to renew season tickets people might just think I'm not enjoying this as much as I used to, or the enjoyment I get isn't worth the cost and hassle of 12:30 kick offs. Especially as is now being suggested by many the aim for this season is avoiding relegation or finishing mid table.

Dave I understand what you are saying but it could be turned to say that's why King acted now. Stop the poor performances at home play consistent entertaining football move up the league and send the fans home each weekend with smiles on their faces from having been entertained. To me the sacking was at a strange time and I would of thought around qpr was the real low point. After the Luton and Boro wins despite the one inept loss I would of at least given Robins Sunderland, with those 4 games 6 points was ok, 7 points reasonable, 9 points fantastic etc. But it is what it is

It could but its a huge risk. Getting rid of a manager who is unpopular and the majority want gone is one thing but that's not the case here.

The next appointment and how the new coach starts will be crucial. There's people hoping for mid table at best, not sure that's going to sustain the level of ticket sales we've risen too.

Would love to see the stats on success following sacking a long term successful manager, I fear they wouldn't give us much cause for optimism.
