Hundreds of kids at a "Pop and crisps" day on the JH reign.
Nearly 40 years later......
http://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/article/pop-crisps-legends-day-coventry-city-bury-2951729.aspx

Yes, that was a one off at a game where they gave out free pop and crisps to the kids.

There are also the arranged parties, the same as the pop and crisp ones around Christmas time. They get presents from Santa.

I found a picture before that mirrored that one but was recent.

So what was the OP?
Pretty sure it wasn't about kids parties or NOPM?
Oh yes we used to be chuffed when we beat Utd 3-2 now we are chuffed if we do Chesterfield!!!
WTF?
Breakeven is a lovely idealism but we need owners who can invest a bit themselves and not limp it as debt on the club. ASAP

People say it's not just about throwing money at it but constantly come out with this line. Which is just asking for money to be thrown at it. That having no structure or foundation to the club is fine as long as 'investment' is made. I'm guessing on 'name' players, who seem to have a habit of coming here and being shit. Yet people keep wanting it.

It's more the "invest money but not as debt" which effectively means give the club the money. Which unless they are a massive city fan or have billions and want a new toy won't happen.

Then if it doesn't work, they will be expected to walk away when fans demand it.

Totally unrealistic.

I was talking about the recent link you posted, as a one off they gave the kids free pop and crisps to celebrate Jimmy Hill.

The colour picture isn't a one off either is it?

What's your point?

No one gives a shit about the kids party ffs.

Oh right. Let's cancel it then. Great idea! They run out of brain cells when dishing them out?

Again, this side of it is actually decent. It isn't Fisher or Seppalla personally responsible for these good things either, so when having digs at stuff like this it isn't aiming the dig at them.

It's the other PR and marketing that is more dog shite.

Never. I'm not having it. You have photoshopped them in. Albeit better than the JS version ;)

Really? Why state "Pop and Crisps are making a RETURN for legends day" dated 12th February 2016?....Suggesting it was brought back in honour of JH if it isn't a one off?.... How would you know "Pop and Crisps" was a one off if you weren't even born... After all it was you that said you wouldn't comment on something that you didn't know anything about!

Yes, pop and crisps as in the food and drink. I do know about it as I was there.

They still have the parties, they just give them presents from Santa or a subway instead of actual pop and crisps.

I haven't said the pop and crisps when JH here years ago was a one off? Why would i as it isn't true? http://www.coventrymemories.co.uk/memory/?id=1049&title=Pop_And_Crisps_At_Highfield_Road

I said the recent thing in the Family Zone before the game was.

What have I got incorrect?

What on earth are you talking about? I confirmed what I was referring to as a one off and you still went on.

Again, you are just confirming what I said earlier in that people ignore and don't have a clue about what's going on for the kids and things like that but seem to be the first to be outraged that nothing is happening for them.

That says to me you think Pop and Crisps was a one off in the 60's-70's.

In the grand scheme of things, really don't think a kids party will make a fig of difference to our future fan base. bringing your kids to a memorable matchday experience and engagement such as Micky Gynn and Peter Hormanschuck visiting your primary school in 1983 are the things that consolidate lifelong allegiance.

Actually, I do. That's where the seeds of support are sown. You've obviously not been to a JSB party and seen the faces of the kids. Micky Gynn for you but Ben Stevenson, etc for them. I go every year with my lad and this year won't be any different. The volunteers who run these events - including our own SW88 - give up their own time and should be commended not slagged off.

I was in primary school during JH's 2nd coming and don't recall the club having a permanent role for someone to visit schools and do the community stuff like David Busst is now doing (maby they were but don't remember them visiting Hollyfast Primary). In fairness to whoever set him up, you do seem to see plenty of evidence of him doing a pretty decent job for the kids and community. Lets hope they don't cut the wage bill and put him on the dole because the only other way to get kids hooked is having a decent, winning team to watch. Guess that takes a bit more investment.

I think that's what gets missed with the anger towards SISU. It isn't them doing it and not a single person gives them credit for the stuff Dave Busst, the jsb people all do yet people try to make out it doesn't happen, which is strange.

A lot of good stuff like this does go on but gets ignored..

It's not even the case of these kind of initiatives being ignored, they are actually denied as has been seen on this thread.

Not once do you mention the "Link"

Read back through, you have just quoted me mentioning the link and made it bold FFS.

Still, what point are you trying to get at? Apart from just confirming my point earlier on.

As I remember it, there wasn't a "Designated Ambassador", but the players and JH himself regularly visited my old Primary and High schools as well as holding regular visits to the hospitals in Coventry. We had 2 weeks "Football Schooling" which were held at various schools in Coventry. Woodlands, Whitley Abbey, Bablake, and Caludon Castle, all of which I attended. The only outlay was for my food and drink during the day. Players such as George Curtis, Dietmar Bruck, Ronnie Rees and even George Hudson took lessons over that 2 weeks period free of charge.

That still goes on though, the players and sky blue sam still visits schools, hospitals and charities.

The tireless work Pat Raybould and her team do in laying on stuff for the kids is not only amazing but is what lays the groundwork for creating life long supporters. They are all volunteers who do a brilliant job and deserve our full thanks and respect - the amount of time and effort they dedicate is to be commended.

They don't get commended enough, when it comes to things like that the politics go out the window. There is no SISU, Council or any shit like that going on it is just people there for CCFC and for those hours or so it is great.

Things like this shouldn't get put down or ignored because of the politics, the people doing this aren't SISU and they do it despite them.

I still think if they volunteer week in week out like they do they should get free season tickets and a CCFC coat.

Would Pat be related to an old friend of mine Steve by any chance?

You tried to have a silly dig about "40 years later" and a link and it backfired.

You can post it hundreds of times if you want? It doesn't alter the fact you prove exactly what I was saying about people moaning about the community and the kids without knowing what actually goes on.

Read back through, no goalposts were moved.

That was talking about the link you posted, I also confirmed it in the next post so that you were 100% sure but you still went on (even quoting it and making it bold, but failing to actually read it)

Are you being serious? No goalposts are being moved. You tried to have a clever dig, you had no clue what you were talking about and you were wrong.

Have a read of what Jan said, trying to give it the stuff about nothing happening in the community (when there clearly is) doesn't get you SISU hating points and back pats, it makes you look silly. It also discredits the people who do work hard with it.
