Teams are not indivduals, if they were the name on the cup in 1987 would be Tottenham Hotspurs.

The thing is, even our Championship-class players are suffering from poor morale and being part of a side with low confidence. That happens when you're at the bottom of the league. Also, we are only seeing the bad things. I think mine was the only post that praised Baker's cross for Gardner's goal and near-miss last week. Similarly, whilst everything Sammy does wrong is held up to ridicule, nothing he does well even gets noticed any more; his ball out to Wood for the goal today was quite superb, and yes, was the sort of thing you don't see in L1. Of course, with the ex-chairman twatcock putting Sammy under the microscope to make him the target of fan's ire, it's not surprising that we only see his bad side! He is a good Championship player-but too slow and inconsistent to ever be a Premiership star. He could maybe do a job as a player who is part of a promoted squad, but no top-flight club is likely to be signing players like him.

As for Lukas-the finish today is just another sign of his improvement; if he isn't a top-flight player just yet, he isn't far off, and the type of young and improving player that lower-half Prem teams always take from Championship clubs. I'd say similar things about Keogh.

So that's my view-we have 3 good Championship players with lower-Prem potential at present.

What none of these posts do is take into consideration squad depth (eg we only have 1 LB!), the imbalance in the squad (no wide-men) and the fact that whilst we have a lot of quality youngsters, they are extremely raw and too inexperienced for a relegation battle.

I have been on here for a couple of months but have been to lazy to post until now, but well since our club is falling apart i thought i might as well start.

This debate over who is to blame the players or Thorn, has anyone actually thought that it is a combination of both. A better manager than Thorn would probably have done a better job but I don't think it would be so much better that we wouldn't still be in the relegation zone, where as if Thorn had better players at his disposal we would be higher up the table.

My opinion on our players

Prem
Juke
champ
Keogh
Clingan
Cranie
Wood
L1
Murphy
Hussey
Mcpake
Bell
Baker
Mcsheffrey
Deegan
Dunn
Platt
Clarke
Christie
Thomas
Bigi
L2
Mcdonald
Eastwood
O'Donovan
Jeffers
Wilson

I have put Clarke, Christie, Thomas, and Bigi as league 1 based on how good they are now not how good they could be, Mcdonald is league 2 because he hasn't really had any significant playing time at a higher level to show how good he is. I'm not including Gardner because he has only been here 5 minutes and I haven't seen him play.

Good, balanced, post and welcome

I pretty much agree with your list, although I'd swap Wood (target of lower-L1 Chesterfield) and Hussey (fantastic last few games, player with massive potential and who we miss terribly whenever he isn't playing).

I agree Hussey has potential, but the reason we miss him isn't down to how good he is, it's down to the fact that we have no other proper left back at the club.
