Surely our best ever sportsman isn’t someone who generally couldn’t match a Swiss, a Spaniard and a Serb? That sounds a bit sad.

He's not our greatest ever sportsman

To be fair that's a hard one to answer isn't it ?

Not really the point. Tennis is the most all round physically and technically demanding sport out there and he has competed at the very top level for the best part of 20 years. Loads of people saying he should have retired 4 years ago but the sheer physical and mental courage of the man is showing everyone why he didn't. For me he is the best British sportsman ever

Watching his Olympics game and well it's been a long retirement hasn't it, but in many ways he deserves as nuch respect for battling on when not able to reach his heights.

So unlucky with injuries. At his best was up there with Djokovic and Nadal on the hard and grass surfaces, but it's been a slow fade away that he hasn't deserved really, but shows his strength of will to keep going even when the body tells him not to.

Jack Draper through to the US Open SF, hasn’t dropped a set so far. It will be interesting to see how his career develops, and whether he can eclipse Andy Murray.

Toughy next up...either Sinner or Medvedev.
If you follow tennis, you know how good Murray was... Unfortunate (for him in a way) to be involved when he was with Fed/Djok/Nadal playing.
They have been quoted as saying he was the only other player at their level....
Murray also only one of 10 males to reach the final of all four grand slams in the history of the sport. Was in the US final at 21.
Jack has a long way to go....but this is a good run!
Worry about his thigh though!!!

I’ve also found out that Draper is the first Brit to be in the US Open semis since Murray won it in 2012.

really shocks me that he never made the semi again given that it was always seen as his best slam in his early years.

Murray was unfortunate to come in the era he did 10 year earlier or now and he cleans up

Nadal retiring

Would arguably have won by far the most slams had he not retired or withdrew from 18 of them in his career .
