Earthquake in the suburbs of Liverpool?
Not sure about shuddering, for me this brings back good memories. Hope the old boy is doing alright.
Sorry it was me. Appeared in the "stories like this" section on the generic tablet underneath the Armstrong here for the season thread. I clicked on it and a chill ran through my body. Apologies to all.Who's dredged a nearly 5 years old thread up?

Haha good memories of what? The worst manager in the club's history?
No I think that accolade belongs to Pressley
They got hammered for not knowing anything for pointing it out. There were some on here that figured quite quickly how weak his football team management skills were, the biggest shame we hung on to him too long while we sank with him at the helm.

Forgot it was Thorn who nearly took us into league two
Simply couldn't see him gaining the two promotions to achieve that Sick Boy, I really couldn't.I'm certain he'd have taken us to the Conference given the chance
I remember when lots of people laughed at Claudio Ranieri's management skills. They aren't laughing now.
Forgot it was Thorn who nearly took us into league two
He was sacked before being allowed that opportunity.
I'm sure when thorn said he'd get us out of league one he'd be a man of his word for a change.
His Kidderminster debacle confirmed his managerial ineptitude.
If only West Ham had hired Thorn, they would be Champions League by now.
And with Robins they would have won the champions league by now surely??
Luckily Mark Robins took over. The Missiah. According to you and your other persona he was a genuis who worked miracles with the squad he inherited.
He then went and performed miracles at Huddersfield and is now performing a miracle at Scunthorpe.
I really don't understand how the miracle worker isnot currently managing a Premiership side as we speak.
Then there is the other manager you felt should not have been sacked Boothroyd
Anglo Italian Cup at least.
Thorn was nothing but a hero figure for people who didn't like SISU.
SISU gave him his chance.
I have just always maintained. We accepted rekegation that season. I think that summer was the summer when Joy said not one penny more. We list a lot of key players in the summer. Then sold out remaining best player in January.
The club can find itself in league one. It couldn't in the championship.
Thorn then got three matches . Three draws and was sacked. That's ridiculous.
Robins was lucky he got DMC who Thorn had been trying to sign.
However when you see the signings TM and MV have made this season I am guessing on a similar budget.
That is the workings of a very good managerial team.
Thirn is a scape goat for a lot of bad decisions ( in a fans eyes) good decisions in an owners eyes of accepting the risk of relegation IMO
Yes, but when opposition managers tweaked their formation and changed the game and Thorn couldn't react to it. Like when we played Bury and were 2-0 up, all people ever said was that his hands were tied. I think another excuse was that the team needed to gel as well wasn't it?
He didn't have the tactical nous to do anything, I could maybe understand if he had gone on to have a good managerial career it was just a blip but he did even worse at Kiddiminster. He lasted less than 2 months FFS.
Thorn isn't really a scapegoat is he? When you watched his decisions with things like tactics and failing to even attempt to do things footballing wise on the pitch it was self explanatory.
Then we had people saying how managers dont make a difference and Ferguson couldn't have done a better job.
He was worshiped because it was some way to have a dig or prove how anti SISU people were. The same way Joe Elliott is because he sang he wanted SISU out. If there was no SISU in the equation he would have been absolutely hammered.
