Yes, but when opposition managers tweaked their formation and changed the game and Thorn couldn't react to it. Like when we played Bury and were 2-0 up, all people ever said was that his hands were tied. I think another excuse was that the team needed to gel as well wasn't it?
He didn't have the tactical nous to do anything, I could maybe understand if he had gone on to have a good managerial career it was just a blip but he did even worse at Kiddiminster. He lasted less than 2 months FFS.
Thorn isn't really a scapegoat is he? When you watched his decisions with things like tactics and failing to even attempt to do things footballing wise on the pitch it was self explanatory.
Then we had people saying how managers dont make a difference and Ferguson couldn't have done a better job.
He was worshiped because it was some way to have a dig or prove how anti SISU people were. The same way Joe Elliott is because he sang he wanted SISU out. If there was no SISU in the equation he would have been absolutely hammered.
Ferguson proved his worth working in adverse conditions breaking the big firm grip.
If AT had under performed for 10-15 games after signing 8-9 players. I would have no issue.
He drew with Sheff Utd who were the league favourites. He drew with Yeovil away who got promoted. He drew with Bury which was a poor result.
I do feel he had one poor result and was sacked.
I think SISU looked at the risk of relegation from the championship if they balanced the books. I think they concluded relegation was not the end of the world and getting the club funding itself was more important. I felt he made a good fist of trying to stay up under the circumstances.
If you are going to sack him you do it after the relegation a draw against Bury in your third game of the season hasn't told you something you don't know.
The chairman should have sacked him in the summer. Once he didn't he shouldn't have been sacked after 3 games.
The squad wasn't that bad Robins was not the genuis he was made out to be. He inherited an ok squad with a striker playing a level lower than he should be.
We are all now seeing what a real top manager can do.
Kidderminster should never have sacked their manager and AT showed at Kidderminster he is not a good manager
