After having a season ticket for 25 seasons, I have not renewed for the 2017/18 Season. I received the following e-mail today:

I write to you with the 2017/18 season now just days away. I have been impressed with the attitude and commitment shown by the players already and the squad is already gelling together.

When I wrote to you back in April, I spoke of the need to rebuild the squad for the demands of League 2. We have been busy recruiting the correct type of player to get us out of this division, and so far nine new players have joined, along with members of last season's squad committing their futures to the club.

The players we have brought in all have the correct mindset and winning mentality, which will be vital in the season ahead. The establishment of a Recruitment Department and putting in place the correct processes for transfers has been crucial in this.

As a 2016/17 Season Ticket holder who has not purchased for the new season yet, I hope that you will come back to the Ricoh Arena for the upcoming campaign - whether as a Season Ticket holder again or on a match by match basis. Season Tickets remain on sale until midnight this Friday, ahead of the first home game of the season against Notts County on Saturday 5th August.

The club would like to do a special offer for you as a fan who has not yet renewed, where you can still save money on your Season Ticket. This price is halfway between the cost of a full price Season Ticket now and the price that an Early Bird Season Ticket was, and I hope it is one which you will take up as excitement builds. Please note, the deadline for this offer is midnight on Friday.

The money which is brought in through ticket sales is vital in providing the support I need in this transfer window and the next one to further strengthen the squad as we aim for promotion.

This is a club that can turn around - it won't be easy but I know it can. We've got a brilliant fan base that are passionate and I know you will always back the players. The feeling that we get as a group is that the supporters are desperate to back us because they want to see us succeed.

If we focus on what we're trying to do and you support us, then we can achieve great things together. Once again, thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you again during what we all hope will be a successful season.

Yours Sincerely

Mark Robins

Good stuff, decent mail and decent offer. Seems like the marketing side of things has had a bit of a shake up.

Go get your ST!! This could just be one hell of a great season for us, but I do think it is shit or bust. This season or never. Nothing on the horizon for a long time anyway.

W need all the support we can get and the best chance of Sisu going is in their recouping some money from us being successful and the more successful we are the better the chance of people willing to invest and takeover this club.

We have been staying away and Sisu are still here. The NOPM is clearly not working.

I think we should all get off our butts and get up there and back the manager and team. I am really optimistic. Might just be our year.

Surely if people were going to renew they would have at the early bird stage?

Not necessarily. Think many fans were skeptical of the owners intentions and many were expecting a mass exodus. Well that hasn't happened and it looks like we have strengthened best we can. Also the closer to the start of the season the more anticipation and excitement can brew amongst fans.

I dare say there will be a fair few who have said they are not interested, but then on Saturday may well just decide to go on a whim and look at all these new players onboard and maybe, just maybe some may take the plunge and buy an ST.

Yes had it renewed no.
screams of desperation.
Shove it up their arse will wait until we are in the playoffs then might get one.

Look on the bright side never had a good season while I had one maybe our luck will change now.
Missed one season in the eighties and yes it was 87.

Or see the players play and try for a refund.

Why desperation? It's decent marketing, the same thing you would be crying about if it didn't happen.

It's amazing how they are now doing the basics people have being calling it for and it's "desperation".

I was cautiously optimistic until Otis said that he is optimistic. That's like the kiss of death given his previous predictions.:banhappy:

Sorry Nick it is desperation just another begging letter, like the ones you get with a charity only difference is they don't send you a bag for your rubbish.

It's basic marketing, unless of course every club / company is desperate and begging? It's the same as when extending early bird was desperate, even though it happens every year and most other clubs also do it as well as being a common tactic in retail.

It's just a way for you to have a bit of a rant / be negative. You moan about prices, imagine if they lowered prices, I'm sure it would be through desperation.

Just had an email from Amazon because I didn't buy something I put in the basket, can just imagine the richest man in the world sat there in his office shitting himself because I didn't buy something for less than £30.
