12.5 k?

They obviously have no aspirations try and get into the championship and more importantly have a good season in there.

Just picked 2010-11 which was not a great season in the championship.

Our owners really don't get the potential that is at their fingertips

They will only need 12.5 thousand capacity because by the time they build this the core support will be next to nothing and the team will be non league.like many I am close to giving up

Can I chair a consultation group? I'm a naive business person who sees this as a great opportunity to get free publicity you see.

Well this is the strange thing for me. They are clearly full of shit - everyone knows that; but if you're going to lie about building a stadium, why not make it attractive?

Bizarre.

Even their imaginations are shite...

...unless they want us to hate the idea so that we put pressure on the Council...

Yes I found that strange

The only thing I can think is that by saying that size is in order to convince the council that it is more conceivable, as that is all they could borrow.

Either that or more worryingly they are serious and its a pathetic capacity because that is all they can afford and they also know they can't afford successful championship football. It will be outside Coventry and it is modular as eventually it will be dismantled and sold for housing one they get the Ricoh.

What are the rules if any on having such arenas in locality to each other. Surely their must be a certain distance between such capital projects. And as such how far are these locales outside the catchment area. I wont go home or away while sisu are still with the club.

I guess I am like many I supported city because my dad took me to city games. Had he took me to Man U I probably would have been Man U - but there you go. I generally only follow city now more out of habit than enthusiasm.

Confirmation of a permanent site not in cov would be it for me. Forty years+ support down the tube for the sake of sisu's ego.

Can't find my spreadsheet now, but I plugged in our league position and our average attendance all the way back to before the war.

We get a boost for any success (cup win, promotion) with 5-7k ish. Then it starts decaying without even moderate success. And drops significantly (5-6k) on relegation. Also, a new stadium boosts roughly 30%.

In other words, 12.5k is only enough if you plan for last season to be better than when it opens. Even a 10k starting base would give 13k in the first season (30% boost for new stadium) and be too big.

What does this say for the ambition of the owners over the next few seasons? If we have any ideas of promotion we'd need 15-20k in the first season up if we're in a new ground. If we don't do so well maybe down to 15k average after a few seasons. That's at the top end of the second "phase" and doesn't allow for big games/away followings, of which there will be more.

If we plan to be a top 10 Championship side then 20-22k average isn't out of the reams of possibility. With Pressley backed properly we could (should) be there in 3 seasons or less. Then we're sat filling a 23k stadium or waiting for "structural changes" meaning what? Another ground share? All the while a 32k stadium sat down the road, actually in the City of Coventry.

I'll give my all to any consultation, especially as (as pointed out today) many of the ideas can be applied at the Ricoh too. But I worry about the capacity issue especially and what it means for how Seppala views the next few years playing out.

That was kind of my point. Nobody in that room (it was only Garlick and the fans) has any idea if it's real or not. Any impressions I got can therefore only be based on other people's assumptions.

It's going to be built on Hearsall Common I tell thee, they're going to steal the Common land From the Freemen of Coventry .

There are a bout 20 pubs within a mile and a Railway station ,mark my Words.

My guess is that the Ricoh is always plan A. Whatever is publicly stated it will always be so. The costs of acquisition of ACL etc is a much better investment than building a much smaller stadium that will be boycotted by large numbers of fans. The only viable plan that gives SISU a shot of getting any return on their investment is back to the Ricoh with much larger gate revenue and other income if they can secure ACL.

Going public with two proposed new sites means nothing. Applying for planning permission (which will probably be refused in the first instance) will take months and months and means little more. Site acquisition will only be done after planning permission and will take another few months and will be full of delays due to the wasy SISU do business etc. An easy waste of three years IMHO. Remember at the end of May one season will have been wasted in going nowhere - that's about 12 weeks away.

In the grand scheme the costs of architects, applying for permissions, forums, stadium designs etc are small beer. All this messing about is designed to waste 2-3 years. With the Football League allowing up to 5 years at Sixfields SISU don't need to start the process of building any new stadium until half way through year three. This falls into the grand scheme of distressing ACL and waiting for three years at least.

The reality is that a new stadium will be built at the last minute and only if SISU fail to acquire the Ricoh. By then the club could be in League two or non-league.

Oh, one other thing I forgot to mention.

Apparently the reason it went from 2 sites to 4 back to 2 again is that people were contacting the club offering them land to buy.

People keep talking about this new stadium but if built how many of the current stay away supporters will return?
Personally if outside cov i won't but will continue to go to away matches.

Personally i don't see why Sisu cant look at sites in Coventry there is no excuse.
It would be a brave coventry counsel to reject planning permission if suitable land acquired.

I feel similar. Build it and I will be a fan by a radio. There must be 1000's that feel the same.

They wouldn't get a new stadium 'boost' from me and my family, they can stick their 12,500 capacity joke capitulation right up their stupid arses !

Well if land is available that easily then why are they saying we cannot disclose because someone else my step in and steal it from under our noses.
Surely the sellers would be putting it about that they are willing to sell to get the best price? That is the bit I don't understand.

12.5k is a joke of a capacity and its bizarre they are even considering it, unless they are only basing it on this seasons average ?!!!

An initial 20k I could accept. This would also make sense.

Again they talk about needing all income streams from a stadium, however, surely an average attendance of 5k a week more (with the potential of 10-15k more for local derbys and cup games) is far more beneficial than a small crowd and some of the additional income streams ?! The small stadium idea appears to goes against their original argument for why we had to move

Is the location and size thing not just another attempt to put pressure on acl, ie, the only way you will get to see Coventry play in a nice big stadium, in their home city again is if acl give in to SISU?

If they are still thinking about saying it will be the site between Coventry and Bedworth then this is a non starter. While at work last week I got speaking to a client who turned out to work for a local politician and they said that there is no chance that it will be built there.

That's a fair point to be honest. But Sisu have to carry the can for that. As opposed to the stadium itself.

So. Since you registered you've done nothing but post against anyone who dares insult our dear leaders.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say astroturfer at best, club employee at worst.
