Loan striker Chuba Akpom has been recalled by parent club Arsenal for the Gunners' FA Youth Cup Fifth Round tie away at Charlton Athletic.

The 18-year-old is on a youth loan with the Sky Blues until the end of the season but an agreement as part of the move means Arsenal have recalled him for their Under 18s cup run which continues at The Valley on Friday, February 21st.

Akpom netted a hat-trick for the Gunners in their previous round 6-1 win over Peterborough United.

The striker will return to Coventry City on Thursday, February 27th following Friday's cup tie and Arsenal's home UEFA Youth League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday, February 25th, meaning his misses the Sky Blues weekend trip to Tranmere Rovers.

Development director Steve Waggott said: "As part of the contract to allow Chuba to join us, there was always an agreement that he could be recalled by Arsenal should they require him.

"He has been an integral part of their FA Youth Cup run and we understand Head of Youth Development Liam Brady's reasoning for wanting him back for their upcoming games.

"Chuba will, however, return to us after these fixtures and we look forward to having him back as he's made a great impression during his short stay so far."

Fair enough, I suppose. He's their player. As long as he comes back.

That is the problem with loan players they ether play really well you buy them and they end up shit, or there mother club take them back because you have made them a better player and sell them on.
Then there are the ones that are just shit.

Likewise, there is a bigger problem when you make a permanent signing who turns out to be shit. Like seasons gone by when many managers bought predominantly shite players who were a waste of a wage yet were on 3 year deals.

So no striker's this weekend lose this and we will be looking over our shoulders

do we now need to get a loan striker in to replace the loan striker who has gone back to his club for a youth game who replaced a loan striker who left without kicking a ball for us who replaced our star striker who "refused to play" ?

No wonder Pressley doesnt like the loan system !

Such is life. At least it probably means that one of our own players gets another chance to play in the first team.

If I had one grumble against the loan system it's that it's a quick fix solution which can work against teams bringing their own players through.

I hope the lad does well, scores a goal or two, and comes back full of confidence. If one of our own does the same, then so much the better.

I'm sorry but this is utterly pathetic. The guy has been brought in as our 1st choice striker at present and as such our main hope for goals but, we have agreed to a deal where arsenal can recall him as and when they desire, in this instance to play in a shitty youth cup match?! To me that is utterly ridiculous and shame on Waggott for signing up to such agreement. He in fact attempts to justify it within his statement.

Just when I didnt think we could stoop any lower!

The player belongs to Arsenal this is no different then a player not being allowed to feature due to the fear of being cup tied, it is what it is. Good Luck Chubaca.

Maybe Arsenal wouldn't sign up to an agreement without a recall clause?

I can't imagine Waggott sitting in a room asking for the clause, put it that way.

Yep, to be fair I was thinking of going. Probably won't bother now if we don't have a recognised striker. Don't fancy watching us get another pasting from Tranmere.

I've never heard of a deal like that, its total madness that a loanee can go back to his home club.

Its no different to a deal agreed with Norwich regarding Mckenzie - it was no doubt a condition of the deal.

LOL, what bollards you spout.

Loans are usually fixed until a recall, usually to cover an injury at the home club, what isn't in anyway normal is for a recall to be interrupted for a short period to go back and play a match. Very odd.

So Arsenal had an agreement that the lad could return to participate in a European and Domestic Competition in which they believe they can win and want Chuba to be apart of, from what has already been said he had been a huge part of those teams already..

I see so please tell me what you would have an issue with the most;

A: buying an asset for £1.2 million and not being allowed to use said asset 6 months later at an event even though you own it

B: Borrowing an asset at no financial cost and agreeing to send back to the provider for a couple if days during the 4 months you have borrowed the asset for.

Just one word answer please a or b?

So where have I heard that before:thinking about:

oh yes

Buy for market value or Rent for free?

And if we are paying the wages how is there no financial cost.
Thing is they would have known this so why not tell us seems strange to let us find out this way?
It just makes people think do they actually know what there doing or are they just winging it?
