Someone's been playing too much Football Manager ;-)
Thanks for asking my position on the two and being reasonable in your asking
Is Davies the better player of the two? Honest answer is no possibility not.
Neither are the complete player hence there playing in L2, both have different strengths and bad points to there games or attributes they lack which could hold them back.
However I believe Davies attributes suit L2 better currently than Willis, and would compliment Mcdonald and the back 4 better currently, yet I think Willis could be a valued squad player higher up the leagues with improvement along side a better defenders and one who commands the line. Willis has pace and a good physic which clubs would look at and take a gamble on him as he's fairly experienced now on the game too where as Davies don't seem as quick
Willis you'd back against anyone toe to toe, Davies you'd question. In the air, Davies all day... Willis this really isn't his game tho against some players copes.
At marking Willis let's himself down from time to time and seems to switch off, a few times his mans slipped away at vital moments this season alone, ibehere, Rhead, and now Eisa all done just that. Davies demonstrates a better man marking ability and able to deal with physical players who back in, elbows up... the old tricks.
As I say, Davies suits the level we're at and the direct nature of L2, Willis gets exposed in these aspects. Now we're heading into winter sides become more direct... time to play Davies who offers more defensively and offensively at this level at this time of year with the players we have at our disposal.
Good points and i agree on some
However i would say Willis has been a regular in best defence in FL(not sure if it still is) and has helped us get 7th place currently and just 4 pts of autos so why change him now? can we really be sure davies will be better over the coming months?
My final point would be we only want to be in this league for 1 year, then as robins has outlined before we want to get out of league 1 asap. Willis is the sort of player i would want to keep as it saves us having to recruit an athletic CB next season if we hopfully get promoted.
That said i like what i have seen of davies and happy to see him play, i just hope if he does willis is on the bench or alongside him rather than sold.
David Cotterill has left Birmingham.
You're such a proud dad of your little Ponti. I'd swear you're obsessed with him Dongo!
Again the points you make for him to remain in the side or not sold are fair.
His part on the defence who were keeping clean sheets and great start the side made gave MR no issues, the back 4 pick it's self so Davies wouldn't be selected.
Injuries and suspensions have given him chance to show what he can offer and like I say the weathers changing, pitches will deteriorate and sides generally go long. It suits Davies better in my eyes and he offers more.
If he's the only real saleable asset we have to strengthen then it's a case of so be it, no lace for sentiment in business. Sure he's put some good performances in the first half of the season to warrant interest.
I think we can cope just as comfortably without him in the second half of the season.
As for next season for L1/L2 preparations I'd be showing strong interest in Ben Richards-Everton at Accrington. Local lad too entering the last 6 months of his contract.
fair enough. i agree akinfenwa scares shit out of me so wouldnt mind seeing davies tonight. if ROD is fit play 3 at back and all 3 man mark akinfenwa lol
Why do you want to see Davies tonight? You are following Jones round town and want a late night visit from Davies?
jones is great an all but sometimes you just need a big rugged man
Reading Birmingham Fans thoughts, apparently a bad egg, disruptive in the dressing room as well.
I'd be really really surprised if we signed Cotterill, League One at lowest for a player of his calibre and wage!
I think most the kids will go out on loan, both DKE twins, Ponticelli maybe, Maycock, Thompson, Camwell too will all get loan spells.
It is wishful thinking, in theory he is everything we are lacking at the minute.
Might have to start begging him like people do with Baker.
Wasn't that due to leave in the summer? Gives him chance to get fixed up in the January window then.
Yeah, he could sign and start training and just not play until January.
If he signed today he wouldn’t have to wait until January to play.
You’d think or hope (with the player having featured on the bench at Blues) that there would be some degree of match fitness, although we may not see the best of him immediately.
Entirely speculation but I wonder if he'd been originally allowed to move on loan for the remainder of his contract ahead of a permanent move somewhere else in the summer and so he wanted to stay local, with us fitting the bill but that now with the cancellation of his contract he can move permanently somewhere now and look further afield with us missing out. I'd be absolutely floored if we were able to pull off that signing on a permanent basis.Interesting quote on Blues' website;
"Cotterill, 30, was due to be out of contract this summer and as he is not in Manager Steve Cotterill's long-term plans, this move allows him the opportunity to get fixed up elsewhere earlier"
So he was due to leave in January and is now being the opportunity to move on now, intriguing..
I thought he would as it was outside the window? Has that rule been changed?
He was on the bench for them not so long ago so would surely count as featuring for them.

Personally I think that would be a very good thing. Particularly for Dion I was looking forward to seeing how he progressed this season. If you don’t get chance to progress at the division 4 stage that is a bit worrying.
I loved his passion, tenacity and pace.
It would be great if he could secure a loan to another league to 2 side
On the bench at the weekend I believe.
If a player is unattached (as Cotterill now is) they can sign outside the window and feature at any time, of a player is contracted to a Club and agrees a deal with another Club outside the window then he must wait until he window reopens.
He's been shut out at Crawley. Only played 4 times this season and Kewell hinting at workrate and attitude issues.I thought they couldn't play if it was outside the window and they had played for the original club? It happened with Dean Cox I think where it was just outside the window so had to wait for months to play so went non league.
We're nearly non league so it's fine.I thought they couldn't play if it was outside the window and they had played for the original club? It happened with Dean Cox I think where it was just outside the window so had to wait for months to play so went non league.
Xmas 18 ?
Willis is a great defender at this level.
However have an embarrassment of riches at CB.
We have no wingers and personally I don’t think we have an automatic promotion winning calibre striker.
If his sale gets those things I am up for it.
