Are we being a little harsh? (2 Viewers)

I don't wish to defend SP record over the whole season so far but the fact remains stats are very deceiving at times and we all tend to forget what has taken place and with sky blue tinted glasses and fresh anger for our owners and SP at the minute do not see what might be a glimmer of respectability if not the points gain we need.

The last four games we have lost narrowly at Preston (challenging for promotion and having great cup run), played two sides at home who have had a somewhat resurgence in form and drew them both and drew away at Yeovil and again almost won at Sheffiled Utd (another team on the promotion trail and a good cup run).
That's 4 draws and only one defeat.

Can we not see that there is reason to have some optimism? last time we had a run of just one defeat in 5 was at the start of the season and it began when we played Sheff.Utd!

I see no reason to expect we can't get some wins in the coming games where the 3 points does make for a big difference in the tables standing very quickly if you look how close the table is.

Its not just the last 4 games I have a problem with, its the many many before that. TBH, for me, it was the Swindon game which made me finally think SP should be gone

Yes the games we lost we almost drew. The games we drew we almost won. And at the end of the season we will almost escape relegation. It's not just what we do now, its what the other teams do.

You have been defending him all season. That is other than the occasional time where even you can't think of an excuse for him. Optimism? It says it all when someone can say that things are looking up as we have drawn a few games recently.

You say that the table is close. We are in 21st and in a relegation place. 19th place are 5 points ahead of us. We are losing touch with the teams above us. Never mind SP will sort things out :thinking about:

In a season where we have the 8th highest budget and are looking at a promotion push, we have won 7 games.

Pax, I mentioned this last week. A few years back Notts Forest were in the Prem. Everyone was saying they were playing well and playing decent football, including opposition managers and they kept slipping to narrow defeats, 1-0 and 2-1.

They kept playing quite well but kept on losing, always being the nearly men and they went down. Nearly isn't good enough.

No we aren't being harsh, I'd say the opposite and we've been incredibly lenient and patient. If it wasn't for the owners he'd have gone around October/November time.

Optimism, we have won just 4 league games in 5 months and we are in the relegation zone. Yes, Pax, it's got me positively wetting my undercrackers. On that form and with 2 and a bit months of the season left we are down.

We were practically handed 3 points on Saturday but very nearly snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against 10 men for most of the game. Pressley put some of it down to young inexperience and nerves but surely a good manager can breed confidence into his team, we were shitting ourselves. You say we almost won at Sheffield, we almost lost after being 2 nil up against 10 men.

What Saturday did show us is that the other teams in the relegation scrap are up for the fight, see every game as a final and weren't afraid to attack the top teams. We went 2 nil up and despite this, was anyone on here really surprised that we conceded.

So no, we are not being harsh in the slightest and to be honest, he has had a fairly easy ride from CCFC and it's fans.

You talk about our recent form like we have been on the verge of winning games. Fancy passing from centre half to centre half wins you fuck all. All this talk about our recent form makes me think about a boxer, he looks really good when sparring or shadow boxing but when it comes to the crunch he gets knocked the fuck out. Football is a results business are we are not getting them, nor have we been for over a year now with Pressley, he needs to go and quickly.

I was giving the opinion based on the last 5 games not season long and for that alone think there is optimism. You can spin it however you like but they are the facts.
I quantified my position by expressly saying it was not in support of SP or the season so far just these recent games against either in form or resurgent sides.
If you can't see that as fact then you have sky blue specs on and are driving in the pessimist lane.
We have a game in hand over the team above. We are a mere couple of wins from respectability the league is so close.
That's just a fact.
BUT we need to get those wins and not narrow defeats or draws, which is a thought I can accept.

I think you should check out the form table Pax - the last 6 only notts county have picked up less points than us, and we're the only club not to win.

Yes, okay, 4 draws, but if we carry on in the same vein as the last 5 games we will be relegated well before the last day of the season.

You have to be more philosophical about it rather than just lambasting everything so it suits the agenda you wish to portray.
Yes we have shit owners, a manager struggling but I can see positives from the most recent results and expect there are a few wins coming.
But then that has always been the case in Coventry. A huge lack of optimism in everything. This board is full of threads about protest this protest that. When will we ever knuckle down and show support for the team we confess to love and that that message convey through to the players?
The ones that really do are those that travel away and to you I salute.

If anything we're being too lenient. The standard of this division is shockingly poor yet we are in the relegation places. The table doesn't lie, we're in the position we're in because we've been rubbish.

Pressley seems oblivious to what is happening and doesn't even seem to think there is a problem to fix let alone know how to fix it.

People have been saying for months we're sleepwalking into relegation, now we're in the bottom four and there's still people who think there's no problem! Managers of teams with much better records than ours are getting sacked or resigning but if we question Pressley we get the local press saying we don't know what we're on about.

What have the last 5 games shown you exactly? Despite playing ok in patches of games we still cannot win, despite playing against 10 men on Saturday and being 2 nil up we still couldn't win, playing the bottom of the league team and not winning, playing teams just above us in 'must win' games and drawing at home, playing top half teams and still losing when they aren't at their best. The things I have said are sadly facts and not opinion, your optimism is based on your opinion of us 'doing well' but not winning so how the hell you can be optimistic is beyond me.

I have realist specs on but I would love to know what sodding specs you have on, to be optimistic about our current form.
