Are we going to "shit" our way up!? (5 Viewers)

I rewatched the highlights and just from that snippet you’d think we were on top. 1.56 xG divided by 22 amounts to 0.07 per shot which is not great, frankly.

Compare that to our 1.51 xG which was 0.19 per shot which is considered a ‘good chance’.

We went 1-0 up after 16 minutes and you could see we were happy to invite the extra pressure and defend. It shouldn’t be a surprise that Wednesday had a lot of shots as they were chasing the game.

That’s not at all how xG works 🤣

No, there’s game state to take into account which adds context to xG.

Our chances were better chances than Wednesday’s whichever way you look at it and after their equaliser, we created the two best chances of the half.

They weren’t though. Look at the actual shot xGs and the big chances metric. You can’t just divide the total xG by shots and claim we had loads of good chances.

That 'Luton blueprint' has backfired a bit!

I also don't think we can match the spending of Ipswich to have the EFL pick of the league.

What Luton blueprint? Barely signed anyone with any pedigree.

Just off the top of my head I'd be looking to sign.
Sargent and Sainz at Norwich
Whittaker at Middlesbrough.
I really like that Ampadu at Leeds but doubt he would want to come. Struggling to think of any other top CBs of the top of my head.

What is it now about 130mill for a season in the prem? Spend 80 mill on a team that will go straight back up after relegation with some good prospects waiting in the wings and the rest towards increased wage budget and infrastructure/facilities.

I doubt 5th or 6th beats 3rd or 4th in the play offs over two legs anyway this season, the top 4 are just so much better than the rest.

I think this strategy ignores the mental effect on a team of getting hammered every week tbh. Buy PL players and assume you can sell them again if you get relegated and those you don’t use the parachute payments to keep.

The point has been missed entirely. If you had two teams with equal xG and one team had 22 shots and the other has 8… who do you think created the better chances?

What were Wednesday’s big chances? They hit the bar and forced a few decent saves from Dovin.

They've basically used the money to finance their new ground.
It was also going to be a phased opening but the revenue they've earned means one of the phases can now be brought forward and will start generating revenue earlier than planned.

What they've done should really help the club long term, though a double relegation could be a bit of a spanner in the works.

Calm down folks. We still need WBA or Blackburn to slip up and us to carry on as we are. It's a tall order
WBA 4 games 4 points so far this month. Just 1 point from away to Plymouth and Millwall and home to Blackburn.

They still have losing to us to look forward to.

I'd like to see Leeds and Burnley go up automatically. Leeds are just a level above the rest and Burnley don't let goals in. .

We're at the top of the form tables just under Leeds. EMC is back and Wright coming back in the next few weeks. Easily two of our best players and will be fresh at the end of the season.

Or how about looking at the playoffs a couple of seasons ago. Luton and ourselves were the underdogs yet both made it to the final.

Not surprised tbh, in the most part we have been more solid.

Came across this floating around.

Which suggests since Jan we’ve been one of the lower half in terms of conceding chances and dropped a bit in terms of creating them.

Basically Lampard is ruining xG as a stat.

Am I the only one who doesn't give a shit about xG and all the other stats, there is only one that matters every game and that is the score 🤔

Score doesn’t even matter. I just tune in in May to see the league table.

We've recently played 4 of the 6 teams in the 'good teams' area. Lost to Leeds but beat the other 3. WBA also there and they're not doing well recently. Only won 3 games this year and that's supposed to be when the data for this is from. Drawn 3 and lost 3. 12 points from 9 league games.

We're 6 wins, a draw and 2 defeats in the same period. 19 points from 9 games yet not a good side? Just shows you can make stats say what you want them to.

You mean Simms chance then yes. I think the next two were there’s but not 100%
So Tats header saved superbly wasnt a massive chance? Dovin didn’t have to make a save that good. A lot of their shots were from distance

It's the current stick to beat players with, it used to be assists which is another meaningless stat

Tatsus header was 0.08. Simms first was 0.13. They had a 0.39 a 0.16 a 0.15 and a 0.13.

Look I’m not Google go look yourself.

Because he just wants to make out we should have lost every game, it's weird as fuck.

Dovin didn't have to pull off a save anywhere near as good as the one from Saka's header.

It's just weird. Even when we win.

Yes the big Footmob anti Lampard agenda strikes again FFS

From the highlights I can't remember Sheff Wed having a chance as good as Simms' 1st & Saka's header, they all seemed to be at an angle with defenders in between player shooting & Dovin

They didn't but I'm sure he will find some shit stat he can obsess over and repeat 6000 times.

You’re so weird with your constant crying about me. Someone asked a question, I replied with the answer.

They should have an alternative table for the teams xG, I'll just look at the only one that matters. I wonder if managers, players & fans are less angry when they have just lost a game they dominated when they find out their xG was better 🤔

It isn't crying about you, it's pointing out that you're just constantly trying to push the same narrative.

You did the same when Rudoni missed the sitter at home going on we had no good chances. Then "oh I didn't see it".

Stick to obsessing over politics all day on social media.

If you think Tatsus header wasn’t a better chance than all of those I have nothing to say
