I know which is quite disheartening. This is why I feel they dont do enough to sway support their way. Not only would it look good on them, it may persuade higgs to do business with their share?

Exactly. If you are our Club and your getting a cut out of a game that you are not expected to progress you want to maximise your revenue. Could we have sold another 3500? Perhaps, people saying we took 12,000 here, 7000 there is irrelevant as every situation is different, timewise, logisticly and personaly. What they have done is sold the tickets that are in demand and given the second batch of tickets back to Arsenal who would sell them immediately, it is shame more City fans won't be able to make it, but it is what it is..

Hence put a portion on general sale to test the waters to see how they sell. If this was strong it would be a fair bet considering our support there not so long ago that they would sell, no?

Tynan Scope was asked the question at last nights SCG meeting as to why the club did not take up the top tier allocation and the answer was that Arsenal wanted paying for all 3500 seats whether City sold them or not. They wanted a decision by Wednesday so they had time to sell them to their fans if we didn't take them. Basically club was not willing to take risk of being left with hundreds of unsold tickets that they had had to pay for. Llast season we took 8000 so even if we had taken same amount there would have been a fair number unsold and being on a Friday etc the number would have been lower. Tynan said Arsenal were very inflexible and had City been able to gauge the demand better later in the week they may have made a different decision.

I did think this was going to be the case, thanks Ash, it sounds harsh not to offer them to our own fans but if your guaranteed of getting the bigger pay day anyone would take it.

Clears it up as at the time it was the right decision.
What with so many NOPM'ers and people complaining on forums that it had been moved and now weren't going etc, can't blame the club at all.

This was the worst game to have for any hardcore NOPM people (there are still a few around) because even if you had decided not to go to Arsenal it is the realisation that this is the biggest pay day of the year for them whether you like it or not.
yeh win the fans back sisu? do something unheard of put us first for once instead of your customers...oh wait 7000 of us went to mk, DID WE NOT THINK THAT MAYBE THAT NUMBER OR MORE WOULD GO TO ARESENAL?
i dont goto sixfields but feel like a 3rd rate fan in their books..

While I agree with the sentiments of what your saying Robo, its not as simple as that is it. If the full allocation was sold out and people couldn't go you would understand that season tickets/stubbs should be first priority and that its just tough luck. However, this is not the case here, the club has cancelled their full entitlement before even knowing if it could sell them, no tickets were ever on general sale before they declined the additional tickets. This in my opinion stinks of either spite or stupidity. Its one or the other.

Season ticket just means you are pre paying your seat. Away clubs don't miss out because of this.

The issue I have is, there are people on Facebook and Twitter who are moaning at the Club for not selling enough tickets, but haven't been to an earlier round for instance, now while I appreciate some are sticking to NOPM, if you haven't been able to purchase a ticket up to now it's because you haven't been to an away game, a home fixture, a previous FA Cup round, a member or a season ticket holder and while I can appreciate that some will stick to NOPM as there reason (Fully understand) there will be some armchair fans who will feel annoyed, yet couldn't be bothered to go any game this season, but want to go to the BIG cup fixture, it's wrong in some cases, but I understand that isn't the case for NOPM folk.

I dunno to be honest, they were forced to make a decision based on Arsenal. If Arsenal know they can sell out the stadium with just home fans they are not going to wait to see if Cov can sell 8000 tickets before pulling the plug. Its an unfortunate series of events yes, but I dont think the club can really be blamed for refusing the extra tickets.

So basically it's not our fault blame Arsenal! Did they give a reason as to why they didn't set the onsale date for general sale before this deadline so they could gague interest? Their stated reason for not taking up the full allocation was that only 1K had been sold but at the point they stated this only ST holders had any chance of purchasing them.

I understand that from a business view. I just think they didn't think through the PR implications (AGAIN) and maybe £100k (the max possible shortfall) was a reasonable amount to pay to get fans on board.
Though I think the real blame lies with big clubs who can force this kind of decision, it still sucks. This was my Dad's Christmas present, looks like we'll have to wait a bit for a game now. Notts County next!
5 of us bought away tickets for games through the away teams website, so we have no record on ccfc database...

I've been to away games, I haven't purchased a single away game ticket from CCFC, as I usually pay on the day, so nothing shows up in my account making me unable to purchase online. I might still have some stubs knocking about so the only way I could possibly purchase is by taking a day off work to drive from Pompey to Cov and purchase a ticket in person (assuming they accept stubs as proof of attendence which in itself is flawed as they can be passed around). I get what you're saying but there are definate flaws in the way this sale has been handled.

Not necessarily, but do you try to make sure as many of your fans that want to go get tickets or do you maximise profits?
Possibly if general release had been earlier they could better have assessed the risks.
Or perhaps in reality they don't give a $hit about the fans.:thinking about:

No, the question is could the club guarantee we wouldn't? My disappointment is they didn't even try to find out.
They must have thousands of people on their email/telephone list, even a quick email to gauge fan opinion within a 24h turnaround may have helped them make a decision, but nothing is not acceptable.
I do understand that the club does not want to be left holding the baby on this one but it feels to me they were far to ready for Arsenal to sell them for them.

Agreed mate, I have no issues with the way the club has dealt with this to be honest. It would be the same for any big away day. I admire that some are still hardcore NOPM, because for me I always said to myself I am not going to stop myself going to cup games based on that. Turned out the first game I could actually get to this season was Barnsley - so I went! Despite the poor football for 60 minutes it was amazing to get back in to it. Since then I have been going through the fixture list seeing what games I will actually be able to make it to this year! Still could never bring myself to go to sixfields though ..........

While I appreciate the NOPM stance Ecky (and also agree that we should be playing at the Ricoh), I assume you have been to an away game this season, which means you could have purchased tickets as early as yesterday if you haven't already?
Magic82 I get where you're coming from however the Club have seen this as probably the last way they will make money from this season's FAC so they want the best pay out, now with everything taken into account regarding this season's situation, the tense relationship between the owners and the fans, the fact it's a Friday and it's in London, also that it is on TV, were City guaranteed to sell 8000 tickets, I would guess no, so to ensure they get the full pay day they gave the second allocation to Arsenal who would, like I said it's horrible for our fans, but for the business it's probably best.

So what your saying is that the club got it right not to take the full allocation even though we will be sold out a week before the game with very few on general sale and the lowest amount of season ticket and home game ticket customers in modern times , so that's the way it goes hey some have to miss out ..
What your not saying is the fact otium are not arsed whether we've got 5000 or 8000 there cheering the team on as they get the money anyway
