Unless Palmer has 15 goals a season in him Vik and Godden up top together should be plan A for me. Definitely against a newly promoted side.
His career to date suggest he hasn't.

Bidwell has played as a LWB in promotion chasing teams for the last several seasons. Give the man a chance. He wasn’t even bad when he played last season
McCallum wasn't even that good when he was he last time, 6/10 season really. Giles much better going forward, McCallum better defensively. He didn't look dangerous going forward until he unearthed the long throw he'd been keeping secret at the back end of the season.

Nah, player and club couldn’t agree terms, Chelsea didn’t pull the plug on anything or they would have taken him on tour with them if he was part of the plans…
There was no way he was going to go back to Chelsea and be part of their plans. The difference in quality from middle championship to champions league is massive.

MR says 3 maybe 4 at the back, so by the time we kick off the defense plus goalkeeper could be very different.
I'm happy upfront as God is as lethal as ever ( we just need him fit ) VG should have improved after a season and training/playing with Sweden.

KW in the Forest game looks up for saving his career, Tavares could be a big hit or nothing let's see. Waghorn looks massive, have you seen those legs? That front 5 could well be all we need if we stop conceding goals.

The right changes at the back and we could surprise a few. We are not far away already, just inconsistent so the new back line could make all the difference, if MR gets the back line sorted we will be a challenge for any team.

Let them worry about us.
Who? Or are you getting your Walker's mixed up and imagining we're plugging our leaky defence with Kyle?

Decent. Not sure about balance though. I think for the first fixture, I’d rather two up top in Godden and Gyko and sacrifice having 2 No 10s and see how we go.

Strength on paper, pre season form good or bad. The firsr 3 or 4 games are a lottery and often has no resemblance of where teams will finish at the end of the season.

That's about right. The defensive 5 needs some work badly, but the rest of the pitch is decent.

I think he's a better finisher, not a better player.

I think this is the correct answer, godden is a superior box striker , better finisher no doubt , the stats back this up ..
I also admire his positioning , its often superb

Viks all round game is superior, the stats also back that up

The way he effortlessly runs with the ball and has defenders constantly on the back foot is brilliant to watch .

It should be a very good strike partnership in theory
