Strangely our average gate has tracked almost exactly the average for the Championship or Division One as was from 2001/02.

The league average then was 15k and is now 21k (40%)

Our average in 2001 was 15,990 and this season is 26,873 (40.4%)

Your maths is wrong, our increase based on those figures is 68%. I’m never listening to any economic advice you give again,
.

Haha, that's fair. I should know from just looking at those numbers that it's more than 40, fucked my sum up there.

I still see too many Liverpool, Man Utd shirts in our City.
Better than it was , but we can do even better.
Its miles better than it was in the 90s. I used to come up for games when we were in the PL and was genuinely gobsmacked by the number of 'top 6' shirts everywhere in the city centre and barely a City shirt anywhere. Whenever I'm up for games now its amazing to see City shirts everywhere. Such a difference.

The Prem would be a nightmare, ground would be too small, demand would see ticket prices rise dramatically, plastic fans ruining the atmosphere, getting smashed by the big billionaire clubs, VAR !
Not sure it floats my boat 🤔

I obviously want us to get there, but I wonder if the novelty of the Premier League would wear off after half a season or so if we had a similar experience to what Ipswich or Southampton are currently having.
Be good to see some of the best players in the world and visit some bigger away grounds. but as you say, paying ridiculous prices to see us get battered most weeks with zero atmosphere must take it's toll

Desperate days weren't they although I'd love us to relocate to a more central location but it ain't going to happen, we're stuck at the gas works ground.
There were so many redundant factory sites in the 90s more centrally located, Parkside, Alvis, Jaguar Radford, Peugeot etc, like you say I can't see another relocation for a generation

I'm not sure it was that party political.

I spoke to some of the Tory councillors at the time and they were fairy honest with me that Sisu f*cked up with their judicial reviews. They went in on a principle of law. The law was absolutely on the councils side. Because of that they had no choice but to side with the Labour council.

But that doesn't mean it was right. If Sisu had made it a matter of morality, (that the ground was built using money from the taxpayers of Coventry to build a ground for our football club), then all opposition parties could've objected.

What the Council did with Wasps was legally ok, not necessarily morally

Not with the current efforts to improve the stadium. I can’t think of any other locations either. The businesses and parking in the area seems to be well established now that there are bigger crowds.

I’d like the stadium to be owned by us.

Warwick Uni has all the parking you’d need but it seems pointless going that far out of town.

Some clubs like Southampton and Leicester seem to consistently get 30k in the premier, even if they've been promoted, hung around mid table or lower for 4-5 years and then gone down .
Then they go back up and sell out all over again
I can't see us being promoted and selling out beyond the first 2 seasons if we are constantly struggling . Our fans are too fickle. In fact I can't see us selling as many season tickets next season if we don't get in the playoffs .

However, I never ever thought we'd sell 21k season tickets , or even 18k last season, so what do I know.

We would sell out comfortably the home end which would be around 27000 tickets .

We currently average just over 25,000 home fans

We would do what 90% of all other clubs do, which is sell out almost every game.

We aren’t special either way

I don’t think people realise how close we came to selling our season tickets this season. We could’ve only sold about another 2-3k before it would be capped

Initially yes, I totally agree. Would we sell 25k season tickets for the third year after two years of struggle ?

We'd be the only team in the league to struggle to sell tickets
Is there a cap on the number of season tickets we can sell ? I genuinely don't know .

The full south stand has to be allocated to away fans in cup matches, so that means around 6k tickets have to remain unsold.

Also clubs don’t like having a ground full of season tickets as it kills off the next generation of fans

So allowing for away fans and 2-3k match by match tickets we would probably not be able to sell more than about 24k season tickets tops.

About that yes.

I’m pretty sure Leicester cap theirs at about 24k

Subject to safety considerations though.

The Football Association has outlined the process for deciding away ticket allocations at FA Cup with Budweiser ties.

A spokesman for the competition said: "FA Cup rules allow for an away allocation of up to 15% of the home stadium.

"However this is subject to the local Safety Advisory Group (SAG) agreeing to that ticket allocation number.”

As ever, the Key element is “up to”.
