Interesting looking at our form home v away and its clear we are struggling to assert ourselves away from home.

Homes P6 W5 D0 L1 F9 A1 Pts 15 ppg 2.5 %win 83% goals for pg 1.5 goals against pg 0.16

Away P6 W2 D2 L2 F5 A5 Pts 8 ppg 1.33 %win ratio 33.3% goals for pg 0.83 goals against pg 0.83

On another note, only 7 teams have scored less than us this season which includes the bottom 4, and we are the lowest scorers in the top half of the table.

*yes we do have the best defence by some distance, but we need to find ways to get goals in physically tough games like today if we want automatic promotion.

Not dooming and glooming, we're good enough to get auto's and I think we can, its unlikely we will go through the season winning such a high % of our home games, so we do need to find a formula to travel better. We've dropped 7 points away against 3 teams in the bottom 6 - yeovil, chesterfield and Barnet. Champions beat teams like these.

We can do it! #pusb

You cite 1 win in 3 as a poor away record but i have lived through seasons where we've won fewer than that AT HOME! In terms of recent history that's a good record.

I will also be at Luton, not a good omen. Today Barnet became the 36th of the 42 league grounds where i have not seen us win.

I completely get what you are saying but this is division 4. One division above non league. Everyone has their levels, and for me I just won't accept mediocrity in this league.
Not this season anyway, give it a few seasons in this league for us to bed in and I'll be happy with top half. Then bottom half. Then avoiding relegation. etc etc.

Also a concern that we have now lost more games than anyone else in the top 7 and twice as many games as the 3 teams in the top 3 places.

Need to turn these away defeats into draws and the draws into wins.

The away form and lack of goals home and away confirms we’re no better than a playoff team at best. We won’t make the automatics based on the season so far. More goals will improve our away form and push us towards automatics. Struggling to see how we’re going to achieve that and I don’t think Ponti is the answer because it’s the midfield where the issue is for me.

We do have January to come though. If we can be top 7 come January it will give us a chance to strengthen.

Absolutely. I haven’t given up yet on automatics and as you say we have a chance in January to address it. Losing Anthony Andrews has cost us. We need a solution for that.

For me it still mainly books down to the complete reliance on Jones to score or create. I like DeKE but he isn't a winger, neither is Vincenti. We basically only gave Jones. For me that's a bigger problem than strikers.

Clearly we need to make changes to the way we approach games when we’re away.

Three of our 4 losses have come away, and we’ve not scored in 4 away games, compared to one at home. I don’t see it as a personnel issue, but more of a tactical one.

Our away form will be the difference between top 7 or not. If we keep losing away from home as much as we do then we will end up mid table.

Whether that be more goals or keeping yet more clean sheets then whatever but accrington were crap today but got an early goal and then defended the whole game.

we're shit at set pieces and should have pushed the boat out for Collins, no one will convince me any different, until about 11am tomorrow when I'm suffering with a massive hangover and crying into my pillow.

Q. What's the difference between James Collins and a KitKat?

A. Nothing. We couldn't afford Collins or the KitKat, so were unable to get any fingers in at all.

It's because you naturally score less goals away.
"Don't lose your away games, win your home games."
When you can't score that doesn't bode well.

Our problem is scoring goals.
It is stark and staring us in the face.
We have scored a measly 14 goals. Of the teams above us the next closest is 21 goals!!!!
That is a massive difference.

Robins signed very well in defence
Very well in midfield.
He made an error with McNulty.
He genuinely believed he was a 20 goal striker.
Hopefully Robins will sign well in January.

If we manage to stay within 9-11 points of the top three. Then sign a decent striker in January I believe we will still get automatic.
If we don't sign a striker.
We will be lucky if we get the last play off place.

Some of us have been saying this since pre-season. We need goals. We need one or more goalscorers. Without this we cannot succeed. Cue accusations of negativity or the counter argument that you can go up with a good defence and a low goals tally. I didn't buy it then and I'm not buying it now. If we don't find a goalscorer we will struggle to make the play offs and auto is out of the question. BTW this team is nowhere near good enough ATM.

You build from the back and robins has goven us avery solid and definsvly astute team

Now we woek on attack. When that clicks abd we have both we will be winning nearly every game.

I still think we will get autos and maybe even win league. Bigger picture is looking good on the pitch

Agree and I don't think it will take much to make us a more potent attacking force.

Rant time.... I’m not pulling punches here.... since the start of the season we have relied on a strong back four and two central midfield players and Jodi jones the rest of them have been useles. Vincent Has been utter tripe along with mcnulty and the lad from Sutton looks a loss soul and doesn’t believe he should be here. We have strikers who simply don’t have a goal within them.

I like be Robins but this has gone on too long now. Either we accept the forwards signed aren’t good enough or we have a problem with how we are playing. Either way these forwards need to shake out of it or Robins needs to resolve it January.

We have to get out this league at the first attempt!

Again, what clear cut chances did the strikers miss yesterday? Duck resorted to long, hopeful shots.

It's all well and good shouting about strikers or put ponticelli in but have a look at what we are creating for them.

All these useless players and yet still we are in the play off places and just suffered our first loss in six matches.

That Mark Robins lad must be a bleedin genius!!!

We are currently just one more loss away from Glen!

"Don't lose your away games, win your home games."

I hate that saying its absolute bollocks if you have automatic promotion aspirations.

The top 3 away last season

Portsmouth won 12 from 23 picking up 41 points scoring 31conceding 21
Plymouth won 13 from 23 picking up 45 points scoring 30 conceding 17
Doncaster won 11 from 23 picking up 37 points scoring 45 conceding 33

Plymouth picked up 3 less points at home, winning 13
Doncaster and Portsmouth won 14, and Doncaster scored 5 less goals at home.

None of them would be content with just not losing away, and neither should we.

If we accept mediocrity in league two then we might as well give up. We're doing OK, but have got to do better, and there's plenty of time to turn this around. A rightfooted winger or creative midfielder must be a priority. We simply don't create enough clear cut chances and the quality of ball into the box (especially set pieces) is poor.

Especially when you have the likes of Willis and McDonald and Grimmer and Stokes, all of which are good in the air and can come up for set peices.

You are making my point.
My point is you can't get automatic with that philosophy,
Especially if you can't score goals.
As you will draw your away goals if you are lucky and then draw your home games.
Add finishing to this team, you will get the top three

Luton away is going to be very difficult later this month, and I'm going which means it's a nailed on defeat.

We do need to improve away if we are going to go up but I think we will do.
I think we could do well in this game. We struggle when teams park the bus. That could be why we normally do better against teams near the top and crap near the bottom. Luton away could be where we hit them on the break. I am expecting a goal feast.

We don’t even get free kicks around the box! because we don’t have players driving into that area
