I would go so far as to say Baker was our only attacking threat. No-one else gave them any trouble. Cody couldn't get a touch and Jeffers only managed to once we were 4 down. Not criticising them, but to slag off Baker on that performance is crazy.
Yeah agree Baker did alright yesterday, earlier this season he looked anonymous but he attacked well, remember him forcing Davis into a decent save towards the end (granted it was 4-0 at this point)
As I said on another thread, he done alright yesterday, nothing special but alright, he isn't consistent enough, hes injured lot. Ultimately we haven't got the money to waste on players who spend more time on the treatment table then on the pitch. In these desperate times we find ourselves in, we can't afford to be carrying players and having freeloaders. In fact I have gone as far as saying getting rid of the higher earners who ever they are, and replacing them with a good solid core of league one players.
For example: Richard Wood, I've read on here this morning he earns 8k a week, we could get 2 solid center halfs for that and still have money left over to bolster other areas of the squad.
I have said we need 8 players to be competitive, but I think we'd be better clearing out the whole squad (not including youth) and literally starting again with a good solid core of league one players.
We'll achieve nothing employing the likes of Baker, Bell & Deegan.
totally agree i thought he had a good game yesterday, probably our only attacking option! He was running at players, his workrate was good and was the only threat we had in my opinion! Some People do not have a clue at times, no wonder players get pissed off and leave because they are subject to uncalled for abuse!
Brilliantly put. I'm getting seriously sick of our fans, we must be the most negative in the league-or at least the ones on this forum are, anyway. Like you say, this thread is not the "Baker is shit" thread-we've had enough of them, thanks. It was to point out what he's said about our owners, and I salute him for speaking out on the subject. All of you who posted to slag him off seriously need your heads looking at!
Oh, and he was by far one of our better players today, despite being about 2 weeks off match fitness. You critics need to wake up and smell the coffee!
You'll find the performances of the younger players have drawn plenty of praise from folk like myself-to say we mindlessly slag players off for saying they had an off day is just over the top.
Bell and Deegan can do one, however, Baker will be fine in League 1. He was indeed our only threat yesterday and if he can stay fit and find some regular form he will be an asset.
