I really dislike the next generate who idolise gimps such as Chunkz and that "Speed" who just chat nonsense. Will try to make it like WWE like they have with boxing.

Stick to the masters football.

Perfect example of that is the new 'Saturday Social' on Sky Sports which took the spot that Soccer AM once occupied, it's just a load of 'influencers' with no credentials other than having a large social media following waffling pure shite - It feels like what out of touch, old middle age TV execs think football supporters want to see

Soccer AM was way past it's peak and had it's day and the most recent hosts were never as good as Chamberlain and Lovejoy but as a show it was miles clear of the utter dross that Sky are churning out these days

In addition to the above, if the Premier League do end up doing their own in-house service for watching the matches like La Liga do, Sky will go bust within two years as their quality of programming is abysmal

If they didn't have the bulk of the Prem rights and the EFL rights we would cancel our subscription tomorrow

Can’t believe the likes of Lineker, Shearer, Figo, Pires etc would degrade themselves to the same level as “AngryGinge”. Embarrassing.

Saturday Social is embarrassing; it's literally gimps who glory support teams and probably never really went to games until they got freebies.

Yeah Soccer AM was being dragged out with Bullard on there and I don't think they could get away with the humour that made it funny back in the day.

I had a mate ask if I wanted to go and watch a "youtuber" thing at the Oval in Bedworth. I was nearly sick in my mouth and told him to sort his life out... To be fair he also queued up for a potato in Tamworth and posed for a picture outside Binley Mega chippy. Would never let him babysit put it that way.

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Looks horrendous. They have done well though, to put everything that is bad about the modern game in one package. Though I don't think I'm their target audience. It's more for the modern social media football supporter, who doesn't really go to games and has heated arguments over Messi vs Ronaldo as they are the only players they can name.

The “influencers” attached to this project do churn out massive numbers in terms of their viewership so I can see it gaining some initial traction with younger audiences. Whether it can keep them remains to be seen.

Fed up of seeing that fucking Chunkz character, mind you

I do not get this "YouTuber Ticky Tocky" craze, especially when it comes to football/gaming content.

All of them just seem like loudmouth yobs with shit patter, but presume it is me that just isn't "getting it".

I live in Tamworth and people have genuinely visited from all over the country just to see potato wagon

It's been good driving visitors into the town admittedly, but coming all thay way to get a jacket spud I have to question how bored/sad some people are

There was a happy medium between Soccer AM in it's final guise and what is on now tho

The name and structure of Soccer AM could have changed with the output remaining similar and I would have watched it

People behind it making a mint from the "celebrity" boxing thing. It's not for sports purists it's about celebrity.

Ok so it’s a 5 a side competition, which could be really good to be fair as should attract quality players, but they’ve ruined by involving absolute cretins who will make it unwatchable?

They aren't really celebrities.
Those youtubers have a huge audience. They've sold out Wembley for a charity game next year (90k tickets in 3 hours), sold out West Ham's ground (65k) for a game last year. The live Youtube audience for that charity game was over 2.5 million live. Dwarfs any Sky etc viewing figures.
It's on similar lines to the German Baller league and the Spanish King's league which are pulling in some big viewer numbers. They're also run by a combination of football people and online creators.

The best football progs/ radio shows ever have been:

1. Football Italia (James Richardson GOAT presenter)

2. Danny Baker phone-ins (606 was great under him, unlistenable ever since)

3. Soccer AM (circa 1999/2002) - the background to many a comedown

Yes I am 48, and have no interest in the modern world.

I missed the 'Glory Years' of Soccer AM, Andy Goldstein from TalkSport hosted it the first time I watched it and he was swiftly replaced by Max Rushden (also on TalkSport these days)

Having seen clips from when Lovejoy hosted it, it wouldn't have lasted a full show in this day and age

Yeah, it was good. But Lovejoy quickly disappeared up his own arse.
