European glory beckons at Wembley on Saturday as the champions of Spain and England collide in one of the most eagerly-awaited finals in history.

Barcelona and Manchester United could already lay claim to being the two finest sides on the continent before this season, having each made it through to the final twice in the past five years.

Favorites

Barcelona start as favourites not only because of their excellent results but also because they possess serious star quality, with Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi ranked as the top three players in the world at the end-of-year Ballon d'Or awards.

These three can combine to devastating effect and a number of scintillating performances in recent times have fuelled discussion about whether Barca are the best club team of all time.

The same has not been said of United, with some observers suggesting Ferguson's current crop lacks the class of previous vintages.

I do really hope Barcelona win, end of the day they are the better team, and Man Utd have been well below par for the most part this season, and have only won the premier league due to the other big teams being even poorer.

It will be close first half though i think barca will eventually exploit uniteds weakness that i believe is fabio/rafeal at right back. 2-0 Barca.

Did Barca have 12 players on the pitch for most of the match? It sure seemed that way didn't it? They always had the extra man and they played two touch football magnificently. When United got the ball they invariably gave it away too cheaply. Clearly the better side (by far) won.

Had to watch the later re-run on ESPN here in NZ. First time I've seen Barcelona this season (always on when I am at work when they've been on TV).

Wow, it was impressive; all those passes along or just above the ground and all seemed to be completed, and the pressing to re-gain the ball was awesome - how do they manage to keep the possession so much and seemingly so effortlessly? Manure looked ordinary at best.
