The thing is Otis, didn't we have one of the best defensive records in the division after 10 or so games? I seem to recall pointing something like that out.

If that's the case, maybe a better manager might get better results with what we have. I know it's not 100% comparable but look at the likes of Hazard and Moses prospering under Conte at Chelsea.

Fingers crossed that Slade turns Bigi into a world beater just to see G go into meltdown!

Yup.

Massive task ahead.

Expect an upturn in our fortunes short term, new broom, honeymoon period and all that, but then think we may well still hover around the relegation zone and it could be a nervy ending to the campaign.

So much now depends on Slade's January dealing. He recruits well and we'll be okay I reckon, but unless we improve on this very poor squad it is still looking rather grim, new manager or not.

Think we need 3 or 4 good bodies in.

Optimism would be, and bear with me here, investment/takeover post-christmas + a narrow and nail-chewing survival + clear-out in the summer + fresh, talented L1/Championship players = definite promotion push next year.

As it stands, well...realism compels me to see what Slade can achieve with this crop of 'players', and we'll take it from there.

Get the equivalent of a S Winnall in, a solid central midfielder and a Centre back, plus a right back and we can have a better 2ndhalf of the season; otherwise, reality will bite. Merry Xmas !
