Barnsley will 100% be a harder task than QPR, looked very good last season when the new gaffer came in.

Having gone thro this thread it is written in the runes that they will win 2-0 with Chaplin & Thomas scoring, both from very difficult chances......

I'm glad we sold Chaplin - he could never have done the Godden role up front role on his own and we turned a nice profit to boot. I liked Thomas, but he was too profligate and there really is no comparison with O'Hara. We've upgraded.

Our defence has proved too leaky for this level so far but Barnsley can't score. We have conceded fron corners (so it's a good job Chaplin is a short arse) - not sure how that will play out.

Barnsley should have gone down, if there was any justice, so we should expect something from the game, but frankly it could go either way. With the exception of Wycombe I will always be happy with a point away from home.

Scoring goals.
As I’ve said last season, we had the 2nd best pressing stats in the league behind Leeds, and only just behind them, which is good in itself, but when you think we only got our head coach in October it’s even better. Add to that the fact we finished 5th in the XG table, it highlights we create lots of chances. We were prone to silly mistakes at the back, but we’ve gotten much better in that area overall the last 10/15 games or so, our massive weakness is our inability to put our chances away.

Didn't you have two defenders sent off against Reading?

To be fair they very well could beat us. I just disagree with the notion that they’re a Firmino away from winning the league. They should be in league 1.
A lot ofother fans recon we should be in league one also ;)

you’ve not seen much of us play have you. We’re a decent side we just can’t take our chances you’ll see Saturday, and Wednesday against Chelsea if you tune in.

Mate you're cutting about here acting like you are peak Pep Barcelona without a finisher. You haven't even scored a goal this season adn only stayed up because you beat an imploding Brentford with a lucky last minute winner.

I'd love to hvae finished the season and been 10 points clear to watch their salty tears.

To be fair amongst all the arguing basically nobody said we shouldn't have gone up.

Yeah who are these fans that are saying we didn't deserve to get promoted? Not come across any yet.

Not sure Barnsley is being particularly feisty, just saying it won't be easy (I agree with the sentiment, it is nice having posters from other teams like eastender is good) - pleased to have some views from the opposition fans, as long as they aren't idiots....

Must admit I thought he was saying some of our lot were being feisty with Mr Barnsley! Mainly David O'Day to be fair, who always sounds a keystroke away from offering someone outside 🧣🧣

Yeah I thought they were harsh but we still played well.

Were they harsh? First sending off Helik puts an arm on Santos Joao as he's through on goal and the second sending off is quite clearly a deliberate hand ball by Andersen. Seems to me your defensive mistakes are still alive and kicking!

Wouldn’t be surprised if we lost this. Confidence very fragile still, but if we do win it I wouldn’t put it past us to get a result against Bournemouth.

Confidence very fragile still?

We won L1 less than 4 months ago, we haven't lost a league match since last year, our squad is in no doubt better than last seasons and we've started the Championship well with an unlucky defeat against BCFC (who beat a decent Stoke side this weekend 2-0 away) and a decent win against QPR, playing some great football along the way as well as the fact that Dabo and Rose are back from injuries sooner than many expected.

Bar a penalty defeat in the least important of the 3 competitions we're in this season and the injury to Jodi Jones, I would say our confidence is arguably the highest it's been in years.

he’s run into his arm, he’s come across him, and thrown himself to ground, when he saw the keeper was getting there first, a yellow card at the most, and second one he’s fell on the ball, and let’s be honest Joao wasn’t even getting to the ball.

This isn't me being feisty, simply not having it that Barnsley are not shite because they run about.

No, he's felt contact and rightly gone down. Not condoning it but that's naivety from Helik. Hard to say from the highlights, perhaps the goalkeeper would've still got their first, but if anything that would make Helik's naivety even worse if that was the case.

Andersen falls onto the ball with his right arm and then stops the ball intentionally with his left. You might see something different but from my perspective that's clear as day and definitely worthy of a second yellow.

I think the Bristol City defeat that you mentioned was this year :)

It's going to be a long old season on here if we debate all the opposition's referee decisions (especially in games that don't involve us!) Get Adge involved in this for a (sort of) expert opinion!!

You know I've missed this. Sunderland aside, everyone was far too polite in the lower leagues. 'fan in peace' pfft.

We did have the occasional Port Vale tw*t on here crowing how they'd managed to lamp the odd City fan. Won't miss them.

It seems from your comments @Barnsley your manager is trying to play a style of football which is above the level of player you have and can attract

Not scoring many goals and conceding goals in few shots are not the hallmarks of a successful football team

but when you’re average age is 22 years old they’re improving all the time. Watching us play I’m convinced we’ll be a decent top half side if we can keep our players and head coach. Only time will tell but if we play like we normally do your in for a shock on Saturday.

David O Day is a top-tier clown so i wouldn't worry too much about his opinions...

Barnsley has always been one of my favourite away days. Pretty easy access by car or train, ground close to the town centre, plenty of pubs. Huge away end generally with unrestricted seating. To be honest most yorkshire away days rank up there as some of the best in the country.
