Bassette Shithouse Appreciation (6 Viewers)

To be honest,. I am not a fan of the "shithousing", but it's the rank hypocrisy that annoys me. Bassette didn't do anything exceptional, even on the "shithousery" scale, yet he seems to be being called out for it by the same fans who undoubtedly look at their own players as if butter wouldn't melt whilst playing fast and loose with the rules.

Bassette clearly wound up Sheffield Utd and a player reacted like a complete numbskull, no-one to blame but himself. As for the reaction of Sheffield Utd players, coaches and fans, that is the real embarrassment.

Judging by Carr's comments, and Robins creating of a quite "fair" style of play that clearly still permeates the club, something will be said to ensure Bassette channels his "aggression" in the right way, but timewasting, keepers feigning injury are also "shithousing" yet nothing is said, anyone says anything about Bassette, I will tell the hypocritical cont to get fucked.

I mean he did elbow drop him just before this TBF.

Trouble is you can see opposition managers being aware now and telling his own players to wind bassette up. He will react.

he didn’t say any of that
Hmm either you did not see the full interview or you are just trying to be contrarian.

Firstly, I did not give a direct quote or try to imply that it was.

Secondly, early on in his interview and also again at the end he accused our players of not putting effort in and directly comparing their attitude to his super bunch that always give everything they have every game. He also indirectly accused them of being responsible for Robins being sacked. That is making a moral judgement of our players over his.

Thirdly, most of the interview was about Bassette trying to con the ref, leaving one on his players, and behaving in a way we call shit housing. That is fine, even largely true, but he then goes on to talk about speaking with his players about how they can’t react to these awful tactics in a way that implys they are above it and never do it themselves. This is hypocritical nonsense, It was hypocritical regarding yesterdays game and taken over the season totally laughable.

But believe what you want…..

Their local rag, the Star has an ex player of theirs saying Bassette would be having his food through a straw if he’d winked at him after getting Anel sent off, Just another example of that strange mentality that violence solves everything, Once a thug, always a thug,

Think that performance from Bassette was a reaction to him getting elbowed within 20 seconds of coming on the pitch against Boro. Will have learnt from those 20 seconds you have to be good at those dark arts in this league

He’s a confident boy but the whole incident was poor, nobody can moan tho cos every team does this sort of stuff and cheats now

Interesting take that under Robins we were too soft, didn’t mix it, pressurise refs, no shithousing.
Small wonder then why the hound played so few minutes. Hard to drop now, he’s mustard! 👍

100% milked it. As @Otis said it’s totally unnecessary as the offence is worth a red anyway.

Got a long way to go for convincing of his actual footballing ability though.
Agree with this. I’d love to see him develop as far as football skills go. A few naive moves and decisions in the game today but love the passion. That’s exactly what we need right now. He’ll come through well if he can be coached.

the only thing i have an issue with is the winking and blowing a kiss afterwards. that makes it all look to calculated.
cameras will always catch that, and then you become the aggressor.
do exactly what you did, but just smile afterwards. it will wind them up even more.

Yup. And he didn't even need to clutch his face. If he clutched his throat, where he WAS actually grabbed, it would have still had the exact same result of a red card.

Great reading the blunts forum
They're all up in arms about how he was a cheating , diving c**t
No mention of their cowardly twat that smashed MvE in the melee.
Also their bleating fails to mention the thugball they used to play with that twat Morgan in the side and more recently Billy Sharpe and Mcburnie
Really enforces the fact that Sheffield and football knowledge do not go hand in hand

tbf nothing in the laws saying you can't wind someone up and take the p*ss after if it works. It's the faking or acting I'll never be ok with. Like Otis said, he didn't need to lay it on like that.

Force of the contact would take him over and being punched / shoved in the throat probs. hurts so no issue if he's holding that as he's goes down. Natural reaction. Just don't play act. It's sh*t.

The Sheffield United have short memories, they never complained when they had Neil Warnock as manager and the likes of Chris Morgan and Paddy Kenny as wind up merchants, plus Oli McBurnie is a pretty nasty player.

Could be a much longer ban for that wind up merchant Anal Haemorrhoids of Sheffield United. Look at that Jake Paul punch to poor old Norm.

It wasn't a punch, that photo was taken as his hand left Norm's throat. The full match replay is available on iFollow and the 'elbow' on Milan is around 59:30 in and doesn't look that bad -

Or just show the ref the finger marks on his neck!

Bassette has quite a bit of time to develop into a decent player. McBurnie, 28 years old, always has been and always will be shite. He honestly is.

It's shows that if players don't exaggerate the offence they know that some referees will not punish the offence. However he should have gone down holding his throat not his head. The refs will be looking at him now and awarding free kicks against him all the time. Victor fell into that trap and never ever got anything from there on in. He was wrestled at every opportunity by the thugs they call centre backs that infest the EFL. Doesn't happen in Portugal hence his goal return for the last season

Yup. I do think it may well backfire on Bassette.

Refs are definitely going to have him on their radar now and possibly think he's playacting whatever the circumstance.

Certainly creates doubt.

Why free kicks against him?

Obviously the ref didn't think he was diving, just a coming together, that's why the ref didn't book him. 🤔

Free kicks against him? Not sure about that. Not getting free kicks he normally would have had maybe.

Still images can be manipulated and made to look like anything you want, to suit your agenda. He's warmly shaking Norman's hand according to Sheff Utd fans.

Nah they won’t. Those players always get away with it. Have done for years.
