I'd be open to the idea of selling Bayliss, especially if it allows us to reinvest in the squad.

Westbrooke seems like a really decent player and could be even better given time.

If the Maddison sell on fee funded our playing budget for this season (as alluded to by Sky in our televised games) then we will need to sell to see any proper investment. A deal worth £2m + with sell on clauses etc. would be reasonable.

i imagine city are keeping their ear to the ground in relation to Callum Wilson. He’s surely got to go this summer? Hasn’t he?

A lot of pieces have to fall into place for him to leave. Wilson seems very happy at Bournemouth and extremely popular with their fanbase - plus he doesn't seem like the sort to throw his toys out of the pram and demand a transfer. Similarly, Bournemouth don't seem to need to sell so unless the offer is significant, he won't be going anywhere. So, it'll need to be right for both parties.

Taking expenditure out of the equation for the moment, to pry him away from the South Coast any interested party will need to give him a reason to leave. His reason to leave will depend on who's in for him, without stating the obvious. He's linked with the likes of Everton who are in desperate need of a striker. He'd also receive an excellent contract package there and probably start every game bar injury/suspension - so each of those are certainly motivators. Plus, Everton have a habit of spending way over the odds for players too so the financials wouldn't be an issue on their end either as I'm sure Bournemouth would be demanding a fee in the region of £40/50M+. Chelsea and Tottenham are also linked but I'd be surprised if he ended up at either club. Firstly, Chelsea can't sign anyone, although they have appealed their transfer ban again. Secondly, Tottenham won't spend £50M+ for a player who will play second fiddle to Kane all season. Plus would Wilson get the playing time? Higuain is favoured heavily by Sarri, and Kane is irreplaceable under Pochettino.

Wilson understands that his prior injury record isn't the best though so surely in his mind he will be thinking that this summer could potentially be the last time that any offer comes from a top club. Realistically, it's unlikely that he'd place any higher with Bournemouth without Howe receiving significant investment so there's also that. He needs to have a serious think over the summer as there are multiple variables he'd have to take into consideration when deciding on a destination such as playing time, wages, size of the club, stadium, fanbase, manager etc. etc. so I doubt it'd be a decision he'll take lightly as he seems pretty down to earth. I'd put my money on Everton though.

Won’t be 500k we’re in the driving seat the player is on a long contract & hasn’t made noises that he wants to leave 1.5m with add ons would be my guess

He’s not Conor Chaplin either.

I think it was CCFC4Life who was commenting on Maddison's performance for Leicester yesterday. Maddison was absolute class. Fantastic technical skills at getting out of tight situations, finding space and linking with the attack.

I see many similarities between Maddison and Bayliss - Bayliss has great technical skill and is brilliant at driving forward with the ball at his feet.

For what it's worth I don't think we've found the right position for Bayliss in our formation. He's not a wide player. And he's not a box to box midfielder required to do the defensive stuff. I would like to see him deployed in the way that Leicester use Maddison - as a pure attacking midfielder.

3 million is loose change to these clubs so worth a gamble to them,They probably know how good our academy youngsters are.

As others have said £3m is loose change to a PL club. As long as this is added to the playing budget, all well and good. Get a Carey plus that Oxford centre half, plus battle hardened players ready to supplement our youngsters. Team improvement and we should have half a chance next season.

At least 2.5M with other benefits down the line. I’d like to see him develop another year with us but if decent money comes in id let him go.
It’s great have young raw youngsters but we need to up the % of ready made players to get us out of this league.

I think Bayliss may end up staying this summer! If he was to go, £2m is my absolute minimum and to be frank, I don’t see why we shouldn’t hold out for the £3m release clause (which a website quoted, I don’t know how true it is). Long term contract, seemingly happy at the club and for once, we seem to be in control here!

Bayliss is represented by Rio Ferdinand's company
Generally speaking they look after their young players and want them to be at clubs where they will get game time but they have strong contacts at clubs at Premier League and Championship level
Wouldn't be at all surprised if there is interest in Bayliss from clubs wanting to take a chance on his potential
Or if the deal involved a loan back for next season

We’d allow him to go if a team met our demands. So far, there’s no suggestion that Bayliss is looking to move on so our positions is pretty strong.

Nope as soon as clubs start showing interest the agent will take over and that’s that. All we can do is maximise the value and hope he signs up with the highest bidder

Money talks mate he will be gone if Liverpool etc stuff is true

Thankfully, £3m isn’t a lot to Liverpool at all.

We’ve been through this with Maddison, linked with massive clubs and ended up at Norwich. We got a good few for him, and some nice add-ons. I’d take that.

Personally, I can see Bayliss staying for one more season, and he’s probably not going to sell less than the £2-3m mark anyway. Either way, we’re doing alright out of it.

When McNulty forced a move, and we got £1.25m out of him, so I think we’ll get what we want from Bayliss.

I would snap their hand off for 3m without a doubt if Wilson then goes you would think we should be challenging if we get recruitment right

£3m for Bayliss would be good, if we can keep him and get to the Championship, even better.

You’re right, we certainly seem to be willing to throw a bit of money about. We offered a lot to Willis and seem to be in for McFadzean too. Let’s see what else we can do!

Quietly confident about next season even at this early stage we’re making the right noises so far

But if they offer £2m he’s gone
