I think if we beat PNE and Sheff U on the trot, it could set us up for a massive automatic promotion drive.

I did say 'top 4' by Sheff U, that is slightly off, BUT, that was only because of surprise losses v Carlisle and Shrews!

We definetly need to take it 1 game at a time, when I heard Baker's post matc interview with Sky (if you've watched it you'll know why I mean), I had the feeling we'd start to turn our home form around, since then, 2 home ins in a row, our next game is v Yeovil and I'd like a win.

Taylor - We need to win 15 of the remaining 17 for any chance of automatic promotion - that would give us 88 points, which still might not be enough.

I would say the auto's are probably beyond us.

We will finish higher than 14th and thats a nailed on certainty! :pimp:

Automatic's are most certainly beyond us.

Anyway, just did it and have us finishing 10th on 69 points.

Have Swindon and Sheff U going up.

Play-offs, Brentford, Donny, MK and Notts County

I think the top 2 will stay the top 2. I think we will sneak in the Play offs with MK, Swindon and sheff utd.

I got us on 85 points and automatic. The crucial games are brentford Bournemouth and Sheffield. Get 2 draw and a win out of them and no silly loses at home and were up imo

I agree, but if we take it 1 game at a time, we could do it.

I've always felt that the top teams have been weak, Brentford lost, Tranmere aren't great, Donny (we beat them 4-1) Sheff U may be cracking - again!

I think the teams with games in hand will get tired with the fixture congestion - hopefully!

We have to play many of the top half teams in Feb and March, so hopefully we can take points off them, whilst, obviously, gaining points for us!

Doesn't help my argument in any way, I'm just pointing it out, we'd be 3rd or 4th (depending on GD) had we of beaten Carlisle and Shrews.

Before you say, I'm not optimistic, I have high expectations.

As much as I would like to believe you - Weve got NO CHANCE of finishing in the top 2. Its not just about what the City do - I cant see Tranmere or Doncaster,s wheels coming off to be honest.
After the start to the season we had 6th would be a massive achievement!

As you just stated, it would need a real falling off of wheels from the top 2.

If you have us for automatic promotion that would mean the likes of Doncaster only getting 28 points from 18 games, which would equate to just 6 wins and 4 draws and 6 defeats.

Why are you expecting them to have such a loss of form all of a sudden?

6th would be massive? Not really, standard procedure to be frank.

To put it into context, hadn't have had our wobble and beaten Carlisle & Shrews, we could've been 3rd (4th deffo) so no, to as we have 0% chance is wrong.

I have a feeling many Reading fans would've been saying things like this, this time last year!

Yeah BUT we did have a wobble! I expect we might have another minor wobble or 2 before the season ends too. So I stick to my guns and once again say "After the start to the season we had 6th would be a massive achievement!

I had donny to run away with it a little and finish on 90 points. I had tranmere to go off it a bit under the pressure and Sheffield to finish on 85 too but us with superior gd. Not saying it will happen but it's not out of the question

Taylor, for a team that hasn't finished top 6 for however many years, with an awful start to the season, being something like 15 points off play offs at one point then I would say 6th is anything but standard. It would be a huge achievement.

Otis, I think you're getting confused! Gary said he can't see Tranmere's or donnys wheels coming off and automatics are out.

Done it, had us on 79 points 11 - 3 - 3 for the last 17 games and in the play offs on GD which is a little optimistic. Anything other 73 points will be a good end to the season, think more realistically we will finish between 7th-9th

It looks as if MK Dons have two games yet to be rescheduled though and they were on 76 points from 44 games in my predictor

I'm not saying that helps my argument, I'm just pointing out how much of a difference 6 points are, we have play every team above us bar MKD & Tanmere, if that's a good thing, is up to the individual.

I think our one form is going to improve from now, and I think we'll kick on away to, hopefully I'm going to PNE, and definetly going Sheff U so I hope so.

If McG had stayed I'd have no doubt we'd win this league, but we don't, so we have to make do but I think we have enough in us to at least push the top 2 to the wire.

I factored MK Dons 3pts from thoses 2 games - We still finished 6th.

The thing is if we win the next three games it will all look different again , as it will if we lose .

I am saying 6th 74pts unless we beat Bournemouth then 5th .

The history is a moot point, we've been the top division for 30 of the 40 years we haven't come top 6? This team hasn't completed a season together yet, so it hasn't had a finish in the league yet, we have the manager and the squad to do it, we whooped Donny and beat Tranmere, we have the a lot of good teams to face, we can do it. #Believe ;)

We're 7th now with a very important month ahead of us, to move up 1 place by April would not be a 'great effort', seeing as a promotion push (top 4) is achievable, no doubt.

It is clear I have higher expectations than most, but I am completely convinced that MR can do a Brian McDermott!

It's not a moot point. Psychologically, that will be with players, though I believe Robins is making them stronger with that. As for top 2, I'd love it, cannot see it though. 13 points to make up with 17 games left is just that little bit too far. I'd be ecstatic with play offs.

Reading had 5 more point than us and games in hand over 3 of the top 6 and was only 8 points from top. Reading had also conceded 10 less goals than us after 29 games, and throughout the season kept 20 clean sheets - we have 5. They were able to grind out results on a regular basis, we basically have to score at least 2 to win a game.

If we do manage to match readings finish, we'll have 83 points which will probably wont be enough for automatics

Psychologically? I don't see how 30 years of not achieving top 6 in the top division will have any impact on them, to be frank, I'm not even sure they even know that to have it resting on their minds.

We're in a division there for the taking, we're better than at least 22 teams.
