He was best friends with Enoch powell
He despised the EU even then and campaigned to leave it
keep up
I agree about Ian Wright, passionate and insightful. But Micah Richards drives me mad with his inane laughing. Give me someone like Matt Upson any day.No, I’d prefer they clear most of them out and start afresh
to go:
Alan Shearer
Martin Keown
Danny Murphy
Jermaine Jenas
and… Lineker
to stay:
Micah Richards
Ian Wright
I like those 2, they add entertainment value to the punditry..
*edited to be more specific
The number of irredeemably thick thickoes who conflate criticism of the EU with wanting ‘out’ when being a transformative partner is and has only ever been the sensible option. It is a tired argument but only Grendel after all.
1 - They deliberately make the comparison for political reasonsHe didn't make a comparison between the two. Not sure how people still can't grasp this?
Take it you don’t like Gary Lineker. Is Des Lynam still available?
Rather have him than that six fingered Lestoh twat!!
Get Jeff Stelling on there next season!!
Even don’t buy Walkers crisps, oh I’d love to play them soon.Take it you don’t like Hary Lineker.
But either way they get a decent result IMO.The BBC backing down is an inevitable as it was obvious on day one. Tories proper throwing them under the bus at the weekend was the final nail in the coffin. Glad to see common sense has prevailed. Shame it came to this in the first place.
Des Lynam. One of many excellent and popular presenters who were not former professional footballers.
Preferred those days as most ex-players are not up to the highest standards. IMO

If Lineker had have been stepped down without any backlash then they get the go-ahead to essentially censure BBC output that is critical of them.
If weget the backlash as we saw, they blame it on the corporation as a whole (rather than the Tory stooges they've put in that have caused it) and say that it isn't fit for purpose and the TV licence should have to go. Effectively leading to it being privatised and thus no longer having to offer balance. And it would be far more likely to end up in the hands of someone who was more pro-Tory and right-wing.
They were dreadful. The likes of him and Brian Moore are indeed a cut above what we have ended up with now
It's supposed to be impartial unlike all the other broadcasters who are owned by rich people who support the Tories. It's also much cheaper. Many people can't afford subscriptions to chanels like Sky and it would be disastrous for them if they lost the BBC. Of course people with your politics would love it and I suspect it is the Tories end game. Let's hope the election comes before it happens.Regardless of any politics what purpose does the BBC in terms of televised broadcasting anymore? Surely it’s bizarre we should be taxed to be subjected to state broadcasting in a democracy?
We're not taxed, at least not directly. It's a licence for a public good you can choose not to have. Like you can choose not to have a driving licence or pay road or fuel taxes but some of the funding for roads etc still comes from general taxation.Regardless of any politics what purpose does the BBC in terms of televised broadcasting anymore? Surely it’s bizarre we should be taxed to be subjected to state broadcasting in a democracy?

Its the envy of the world in terms of balanced news media and educational content. Why wouldn’t you want that?
I thought it’s riddled with Tory bias?
The fact it's the most balanced says more about how disproportionately right wing the media owned by the tycoons are.I thought it’s riddled with Tory bias?
Just look at its contributions to the world through David Attenborough. All the spin offs from UK comedy in countries around the world. The export of BBC UK comedy all around the world. It’s trusted worldwide for news. And look at everything you get. TV channels, radio channels, on line services. Compare it to Sky, it’s far better value for money. Half the stuff on Sky is reruns of BBC programmes anyway, which all available on the BBC player for free. Its the envy of the world in terms of balanced news media and educational content. There’s a definite pro government slant due to the mechanics of funding, but even with that it’s the most balanced news media IMO.
And most of them don’t make profit from their media outlets. They’re just a tool to most of them to use to brainwash the plebs into doing what they want them to do.The fact it's the most balanced says more about how disproportionately right wing the media owned by the tycoons are.

That's exactly what it shouldn't be, and is part of the problem. Successive governments have told it to chase ratings, and it's done that ahead of commissioning things because producers thought them good.I don’t entirely disagree but a compulsory prescription tax is in the 21st century a bit odd. I never watch bbc news never watch mod never watch question time at all
I do think it’s radio broadcasting is essential and should be preserved but TV broadcasting has to become more commercialised
it's quite meta to see them doorstepping themselvesOnly the BBC will criticise itself in its own news reports.

Moore was a top class broadcaster with a huge interest in the lower leagues, think he supported Gillingham.

Moore is probably my favourite of all. Great commentator.@Deleted member 9744 thought he was shit
Impartiality is overrated -
(or let's get rid of the only channel that tries to be impartial and caters for minority interests so we can pay daft subscriptions to channels, owned by foreign oligarchs, full of long adverts for products we don't need and have no interest in)
