The ironic thing, of course, being that public services are functioning that poorly that the border force doesn’t seem capable of dealing with the issue in hand. There is a 3rd consideration that again seems missing from the debate is the numbers the UK can legitimately support. The Tories have run the countrys public services very badly and allowed public services to be in as bad a state as they have been in decades, however, even if that was rectified there is a point that if numbers were not managed integration, jobs and welfare would stop functioning and this would be detrimental to everyone, including settled refugees.
I'll repeat what I said elsewhere, the problem is never people coming to claim asylum, the problem is the time we spend to process them - and that's because of government cuts and negligence. I'll also repeat I don't know the current state of affairs, but in past years if you failed your asylum claim, you were given a slip and told to report to a centre in a fortnight - guess what happened. So, you want to tighten it up, start there, in the process. The ironic thing, of course, being that public services are functioning that poorly that the border force doesn’t seem capable of dealing with the issue in hand.
All Gary Gestapo has to do is justify his comments regarding 1930s Germany and the similarity to the current UK govt by giving us specifics and he'll win me over, rather than just come out with this statement . Then we can all say " You know what, he's right."
Looking forward to it. I've got all week..
I think the point is that the BBC has a history of replying to complaints about various people who appear on BBC channels by basically saying nothing to do with us, they’re a freelancer. This covers a spectrum from Chris Packham to Andrew Neil. In a break with tradition the BBC has decided that the rules are different for a freelancer called Gary Lineker. With a BBC contract. Ok. Not going to argue. He’s a regular contractor to the BBC.
Gary's position is interesting and seemingly very selective.
He for example seems to have no issue with Qatar, took their money.
Comparing people fleeing Nazi Germany with modern day France strikes me as a stretch.
Most people that are speaking up about this are complete hypocrites, including a lot on this thread. It's selective outrage at best. Wouldn't hear a pip about fighting for free speech, or against cancellation. As soon as someone has your viewpoint though - all over it. Why else has it suddenly become an issue? I've been asking for days on the other threads and it is met with crickets.
For the record, I think he should be allowed to speak his mind, but there is so much hypocrisy going on it's funny. Where the fuck were you for the last few years? It's either free speech for all, or it isn't. Same applies to the people trying to cancel Lineker.
I don't think the tory policy is necessarily the right move, but there needs to be a sensible and adult discussion regarding immigration. Genuine refugees should be supported, but many of those in the centre of this discussion are not. That's what's wound up a lot of people over the years, and it's lowered sentiment and sympathy for those that do genuinely need help. The argument seems to be open borders or racist, however, which is one of the reasons why so many of those found screaming about this have been consistently on the losing side of elections/referendums in recent times.
Some of you need to give yourselves a shake.
F-ff to GB News then.... with the other neanderthals ! Ignorant t!t.
Thought it was going to be about Big Black Cocks?
He’s asking for an example of someone who’s been suspended by the BBC because it’s the best/most direct comparison to Lineker’s case. You can hardly be upset at people for not speaking up before if there haven’t been any comparable cases to speak out about. So again - who are the ones we missed? You're just qualifying my point on selective outrage and hypocrisy here. The world is bigger than just the BBC... No one can honestly say 'you know what, the reason I didn't speak up about free speech and cancellation before, was because that person didn't work for the BBC'.
Come on.
That doesn’t answer my question. So it's only Albanians then?
Your question is an attempt to deflect from what the bill does, so is not worth answering. That doesn’t answer my question.
No it isn’t. Albanians are apparently the largest number of people arriving here and hence exacerbating the situation. The fact is you can’t answer the question because there is no justification.Your question is an attempt to deflect from what the bill does, so is not worth answering.
Yet people on here still defend him
He gets paid far far too much money, however, that is not what we're talking about is it?
What’s your point? Grossly overpaid people are allowed to have an opinion just like you and me
Yet people on here still defend him
Yes we are. Perhaps he should use that money to help the vulnerable women and children from war torn Albania
If he did you can be certain he'd let us all know about it.Yes we are. Perhaps he should use that money to help the vulnerable women and children from war torn Albania
Yes I agree, Gary Linekar should act as a functional version of our own government. Great idea.
I'll repeat as you seem to have missed it whilst doing your lazy sniping, he has actually taken in refugees. If he did you can be certain he'd let us all know about it.
You’re using his salary as a reason why people shouldn’t defend him. His salary is irrelevantWhere have I said he shouldn’t?
How is it?Of course it is
Who’s he preaching to? he’s stated on his own personal social media “the language used by The Government is similar to that of 1930s Germany”Multi millionaire who lived in the least diverse areas of the uk preaching to the working class in cities where white British are the minority. Not relevant at all really
Who’s he preaching to? he’s stated on his own personal social media “the language used by The Government is similar to that of 1930s Germany”
it’s a statement that has been made by a Holocaust survivor and someone on here posted statements from the time.
Social media allows an opinion - and lol white british a minority? Someone’s been listening to Mr Farage and Griffin too much
How much is Lineker on then and how do you know ?Of course it is
Gary wins
They’d be the advocates spouting about how cities have a minority of white British…Using a platform he has developed as a football pundit, not a politician.
I don’t know who Farage and Griffin are don’t watch much football outside of England. Who do they play for?
How much is Lineker on then and how do you know ?
Braverman said there were 100m people wanting to flood our shores and it could potentially be billions. yet she failed to quote where she got this information from,No, you're missing the point. The point is lineker failed to quote from the Nazi propaganda machine and should have done his homework rather than saying simply that it sounded like " something" from 1930s Germany. Are we supposed to just take his word for it then ? Any decent journalist would have backed up these claims with quotes and evidence from the 1930s , but he's not a journalist. Clearly.

Yep he should but the same has to be applied to anyone in that case.
Defence spending is often circular inward investment. Orders given to BAE, SFL, W Cook etc., these companies pay wages - tax back to gov. Pay rates, VAT, Corp tax etc. back to gov. Employees spend on goods, taxed. Bills, taxed, mortgage int - profits to banks, taxed. Defence and infrastructure spending often kickstarts certain economies. In the 1930’s it was done to combat the Great Depression in USA, Italy, Ger….. hold on…. (Satire)Also with the country at breaking point due to the immigrants…. Sunak has found 5bn to increase defence spending
I thought you didn’t want him making political statements? He’s a bbc employee, their salaries are published every year. Personally I can’t believe he doesn’t take a pay cut to support the gender pay gap reduction
