I'm not disputing any of that, but I'm using it to illustrate that just like all hooligans aren't the same neither imo are all drug dealers. Some push heroin, others priovide a bit of weed, or coke for people who are already using it and who want someone to get it for them. I don't get involved, so no need to visit me for any of the eyes who may be reading this, but they are not all the same.

but i don’t get how you can say drug dealers are on par with football hooligans

football hooligans don’t affect society but drugs do on a minute by minute daily basis , right now a drug user will be committing a crime for its habit.

I didn't - it was where you were saying the hooligan should get more because he was a drug dealer. I think we're talking at cross purposes.

so what is ludicrous about my argument ?

when was the last time a cov fan was serious hurt at a football match ?

It's not just about the fans taking part getting hurt. It's their own bloody fault if they do. It's about impact to people, fans or not, of their actions. That can be anything from people being too scared to leave their homes, to damage to property, cars etc as well as injuries. There is absolutely no need for it.

Football hooligans do affect society. Many businesses were impacted a couple of years back when Milwall fans smashed up anything in sight. My mate took his young lad to a game a couple of years back and now he won't go because he was scared by some of the violence nearby after the match. People fight in the streets around people's houses. These are all impacts on society you are just too blinded by ignorance to see it.

drugs is the evil of all crime

drugs breeds muggers and criminals , how you can say drug dealers provide a service , they get people onto heroin who in turn cant get away from the vicious circle which then force them to shop lift , mug old ladies for pennys for their next fix

drugs kill 100’s of people a day

Do you have children? If so, would it not concern you if you found out they 'loved seeing the trouble'?

They are both as bad as each other. It may have been exciting as a kid but everyone has to grow up some time.

You have to assume not. Surely if he had kids he would not want them anywhere near stuff like that.

look at society

burglars and robbers get community service - who’s more of a threat to us? burglars or football hooligans ?

rapists get 2 years - who’s more of a threat to society? rapists or football hooligans ?

nonce’s get 2-3 years - who’s more of a threat to society? rapists or football hooligans ?

football hooligans fighting like minded people get 3 years and have to hand passports in , banned from town centres

a question to all on here , when was the last time you witnessed or caught up in trouble , its very very rare nowadays , i see more trouble in my local then i do up the ricoh

I got arrested for it a couple of times many years ago. I have not been inside. I have not been to court for it either.

Most arrests are made to stop the trouble from getting worse. The arrests that lead to court are when a violent attack has been witnessed. Even then most are dropped before court, just like most crimes as they are not 99% sure of a conviction. A 3 year sentence for football violence means it would have been at the upper level and also witnessed.

Football violence is one step down from rioting. Don't try to tell me what happens. I was involved in it for years. Not one of my proudest moments. The numbers involved was always lower than thought. The majority was lads who wanted to look big and did the running and shouting. Then did the running away when things got interesting. At no time would any of these got a prison sentence unless they became "brave" and saw an easy target. I was a bit of an idiot when I was involved in it all. Saw it as a laugh. It was what you did whilst going to a game. The pride of your city was at stake. It seemed like fun. I am glad I come to my senses. Lots of thugs went tooled up. I remember one game against Chelsea. What a day. We all got in and out of the place in one piece. We had a good day. It was only when we were back in Cov in a pub that someone noticed my jacket had a big hole in it on my back. I had been slashed. If it wasn't a cold day I would have had less layers on. I suppose the person that did it would have deserved a slap on the wrist?

So are you saying that hooligans do not deserve to go to prison? The problem with society is that people know they can get away with most things today. we have some great deterrants. Someone drives a car without insurance that is banned. He causes an accident. He loses a licence he has never had, gets a fine he won't pay and community service he won't complete. This is wrong. It don't mean though that the rare crimes that are punished more harshly are incorrect though. If we had correct punishment for all crimes the crime rate would plummet. Most crimes are committed by the vast minority. The old saying when I was younger was if you can't do the time don't do the crime. Now it seems to be you won't get the time so you might as well do the crime.

sorry mr know it all- dont comment on something you did 30 years ago. times have changed

when did you get arrested and involved ? 1970s when 80% of fans were at it ? couldnt be policed back then and more people died or seriously injured

in today climate , the trouble never happens near the ground , happens out of the way

the football lads up cov are good lads and would rather spend time in there company instead of some smackhead from the aldermoor

the trouble nowadays is few and far between , no stabbings or slashings just toe to toe fighting

i guess over 95% of posters on here have broke the law whether it be speeding, foul and abusive language etc... the do gooders brigade make me laugh on here they really do

Stop calling them football lads. They are hooligans/thugs/criminals. They in no way represent our club in any way. In fact I would sooner they fooked off and supported someone else than bring shame on our club.

You won't even take it from someone who has been involved in it. It's not big, it's not clever and it's certainly not hard. It is against the law. If you don't want to take the punishment like a man, then don't do the crime. It doesn't take a genius to work that out.

if life was that simple yes but that would be saying kids cant cross the road just incase a drunk driver is driving like a idiot

a kid has more chance of getting bullied at school then getting trouble at football matches , does mean bullies should be sent down and kids shouldn’t go school ?

football violence is very very rare so not sure why it gets so much attention ?

Bullies should be punished, adequate punishment would be suspension or expulsion from school. Are you really trying to justify hooliganism by saying its no worse than bullying?

I agree hooliganism is rare but it is still against the law and participants should be punished.

Sorry Mr know it all. I started going in the 80's. You say 80% of fans were at it? You mean 79% did shouting and running about. Some others did the fighting. I have said before. If it is out of the way of everyone and everything then all is good. When it involves innocent bystanders then it is wrong. Yes, lets go about scaring women and kids. Lets get blokes not interested involved. Look at me, I am hard. Beat the shite out of some ....... fans. The proper ones do it for the buzz. Nothing more, nothing less.

Those that do it do not go bragging about it. Those that want to look big brag about what they are doing. They were the runners and shouters in my day.

Aldermoor smackhead? That was one of the areas I was dragged up in. Had community spirit them days. Still know people there. Full of smackheads? Not noticed it too much myself. To me there is worse places in Cov, although I could be wrong as I moved out of Cov many years ago.

It rarly rarly involves bystanders as i said , no innocents get hurt , its like minded individuals no women or kids getting caught up wheras in the 80s it was rife and kicking off inside the ground , worse then compared to today

I live by the millpool and know loads of aldermoor lads and theres plenty of smack heads round the moorfield and coppice and not to mention pinley fields plus the aldermoor has got worse over the years not better but thats a different story

one of the lads was sent down for 6 months robbing the local shop to get his next fix , give me company of a hooligan over a smackhead anyday

And just how it should be.

My eldest is 26. I couldn't take my older kids to games. I have seen where families have got attacked as they were an easy target. My youngest is 2. I am not bothered what team you use as an excuse for violence. My little lad will be going to games soon. Cause trouble close to him and lets just say it will make me angry. Why should it happen near little kids? Why should it happen near any kids? Why should it happen near women? Why should it happen at all?

its rare very rare and the trouble that does occur is away from preying eye

look theres a difference between the chavs in singers corner and the lads who stay well out the way

people think singers corner are hooligans , there not there chavs , big difference

i know for a fact , the ‘lads’ met over 2 miles away from the ground for the doncaster game , they did not trouble and that was it

Rarely is the word though. One person getting tangled up in it is one too many.

I worked the doors for years. The wife made me pack it up after getting arrested for defending myself. Nothing came of it, but went home in the morning after a night in the cells and with a few bruises. I have seen what happens when idiots get going. There is nothing clever about anyone causing trouble because they are p!ssed. There is nothing clever about causing trouble full stop. They seem to think everyone is keen for a fight. I am very placid. I am known as a big softy. Maybe I have mellowed out with age. Maybe I have come to my senses. It is wrong. Why should anyone want to go out to hurt another?

What is wrong with doing it in a controlled environment? Try cage fighting if you must. I tried it a few years ago. I found it good at first. Then it felt barbaric. I will never do it again. Saying that I am getting a bit old for it now. Would my opponents like it if I took my zimmer frame in with me in a few years? Each to their own though.

OK, fact for fact.

Trouble very rare? True. Very good.

Chavs in singers corner? No, just fans that like to sing and have a good time at the game. Just the same sort that go to away games.

As I say I have no problem with things kept away from everyone not interested. If it is not on anyones radar then keep it that way. The blind don't see. They have nothing to worry about.

Yes I do away games. My most enjoyable last season was away at Cardiff. I went in with the Cardiff fans. I am not exactly small, but some of the welsh lads made me feel small. Did I feel intimidated? No. The banter was great. I even missed our second goal other than to see the ball go in the corner of the net through enjoying the banter so much. What is wrong with opponent fans getting on?

true but you could go anywhere and get caught up in trouble not just a football ground , theres nothing big or clever abut drinking but we do it becasue we enjoy it

chavs in singers corner were throwing bottles and stones last year after some matches and waiting by the hill , so thats acceptable is it ?

i did 5 away games last year on minibus and had a great day only to be wrecked by the police when they told us what pubs we could or not use , why should i be dictacted on where to go ?

i was cardiff and in cov end , cardiff fans now have quitened down , doubt youd get away with it 8 years when we went there in the cup.

nothing wrong with getting on with opponent fans but same time id stick up for myself and fellow cov fans if need be , whats so wrong about that ?

I rarely do home games so can't comment on what I have no idea about. If I was there though I would not have sat there and let it go by.

There is a bylaw. No drinking in pubs closer than 10 miles away. Brought in to try to stop violence. Not done at all grounds though. Had a debate with coppers at Burnley game. One of them was from Cov.

I always do Cardiff away in the home end. Only ever had 1 idiot have a go at me. I go in with relatives of mine. Big welsh lads They come in the home end with me. I am 6'2" and 16st. They make me look small. Only an idiot would start on us

That is ok if it is genuinely away from innocent people (& their property). Can think of very few places in Coventry that would qualify as being away from people. Same goes for Donny (I live about 5 miles away).

That is ok if it is genuinely away from innocent people (& their property). Can think of very few places in Coventry that would qualify as being away from people. Same goes for Donny (I live about 5 miles away).

A simple and easy comparison to make is a friday or saturday night in any decent sized town in the country. People have fights and innocent people are affected, they often get arrested and then released in the morning. It's fair to say that if you throw one punch on a saturday, resulting in a ban from the town centre then that's a little bit harsh considering what people will get away with about 8 hours later.
