Lower league football is quite odd. Players that stand out tend to go up a level or two and struggle, although there are obvious exceptions. I remember watching Matt Tubbs on TV a few years back in an FA Cup game - for Grays, I think - and he was head and shoulders above any player on the pitch and had a great goalscoring record, yet he comes into league football and barely makes a dent. Still, fairytales do happen and as fans we love 'em!

I remember when city fans were urging the club to sign Culpin from Nuneaton that was a mistake he couldn't step up. However worth a punt.
As an aside my friend is a Rushden fan and has told me David Bell turned out for a team two leagues below Rushden

Culpin was def worth a go. Had an OK league career anyway.

Always remember Robbie Beard banging in the goals for Rugby and Bedworth but never got a sniff of league football.

Robbie Simpson was dreadful too and that was only conference, massive leap. At 26 this guy would be playing higher if exceptional. I'm sure there will be some nuggets out there, but most will be at the right level. That said, risk free for minimal investment.

Can we afford him though, we could get rid of Cole and then get him on loan

John Tudor and Brian Joicey were non-league players who did pretty well for us and the clubs they went to after us.

Culpin scored bucket loads for CCFC reserves. I think he would probably have done well in the first team as well if he been given a decent run.

If this was in the conference, I'd snap him up - as it stands, not a chance.

Someone banging goals in for fun in the conference would always be worth at least a trial.

I trained with him years ago. Think he was at Salisbury at the time. Has always looked promising and wasn't dreadful at Crawley. I remember him hitting the bar with a bicycle kick at Old Trafford and ripping Forest apart in the cup.

Isn't Aaron Williams supposed to be decent at Nuneaton? Scored 29 in 38 at Rushall Olympic and 12 in 19 for Nuneaton so far.
