The story that is coming out now, which isn't yet verified, is that two chaps were on the receiving end of homophobic abuse and were threatened by the bloke with the bottle so Stokes stepped in.

Yeah, can see him swing a bottle and then gets a kickin. "Apparently" he was defending a homophobic attack.

Fair play, even if it is just for giving the twats who swing bottles a kickin. The one who drops is the one who swung the bottle.

In that situation it's hard to say how you would react, if somebody is going to use a bottle you are going to make sure they aren't getting up.

No I agree he's in trouble as he kept going after they were backing away in a sense the 'self defence' issue had switched sides!

I had wondered why the blokes attacked hadn't pressed charges I guess we know why, If the allegations (I first saw on twitter from Piers Morgan) are true.
