Best combined play off team (1 Viewer)

You are not really comparing apples with apples though, McNally played in a back 3 with a team set up to defend and hit teams on the break. Thomas and Kitching have played mostly in a back 4 in a team, especially under Lampard, that leaves itself far more open.

McNally as good as he was in his loan spell was utterly embarrassed in that first half vs Luton at Wembley.
Was poor at Stoke last season too.

Outside of the 0-4 drubbing off Stoke, Mcnally conceded 11 goals in 16 games with us here. Thomas and Kitching, despite looking better are conceding nearly 2 goals most games.

People really have their sky blue tinted specs on around this.
That's frankly a ridiculous comparison between the two comparative squads .
Our playoff final side was basically a back 8 with Gus , Godden and Vik performing miracles and getting goals on the break.

Not sure if Kitching and Thomas have played every game, but you can't just discount the one we let 4 in, it's basically 15 in 17 you're saying about McNally - in a back 3.

Since Christmas we've played 16 league games so similar sample size and we've only conceded 14. In the same period we;'ve scored 27. I don't know how many scored in the 17 you mention but I suspect less.

Bidwell isn’t even our first choice 🤣
Who is first choice?

Dasilva has started 15 of the 38 times he's (39.5%) he's been in the league squad this season

Bidwell has started 20 of the 32 times (62.5%) he's been in the league squad this season.

And if you're picking best team from the both play off runs (2022/23 and this season) Bidwell started 40 of 46 games in the league and all 3 play off games in that season. Perhaps the answer should be Bidwell (22/23)

There were a few scouts sat in front of us at the Sunderland game. I spoke to one from Wolves and asked him how many of our players are Premier League quality. He said two and when I asked if Dovin was one he said not quite yet but he has potential. Stupidly, I didn’t ask who the two were but I’d had a few by then!

Wright
Mve
Possibly grimes
Maybe emc
Agree as a whole would add a few to your list
Wright, MVE
Possibly Grimes, and an in form and fit Sheaf
Potential EMC, Dovin, Rudoni

Which basically says concerns over CB and LB

But to answer this thread
Dovin
MVE Thomas Doyle Bidwell
Hamer Grimes rudoni
Wright Gyökeres EMC

This team in 23/24 and 24/25 is overall better than the playoff team, overall.

However, the star quality in Hamer and Gyokeres meant we had the arguably the Top 2 players in the league that season. If you put Hamer and Vik in this team, we’d be in the automatics.

Doyle would start over Kitching but especially this season, you’d have Thomas over McNally.

Different formations so not sure how to set it up so I’ll do both shapes (433 and 532)

433
Dovin

van Ewijk - Thomas - Doyle - Bidwell

Hamer - Grimes - Rudoni

Sakamoto - Gyokeres - Wright

532
Dovin

Thomas - McFadzean - Doyle

van Ewijk - Hamer - Grimes - Rudi - Bidwell

Gyokeres - Wright

Dovin
MvE McNally Fadz Doyle
Hamer Sheaf Rudoni
Saka Gyokeres Wright

Or if you’re Google lineups:

Dovin
McNally Fadz Doyle
MvE Hamer Sheaf Rudoni
Saka Wright
Gyokeres

Same 352/433 we played a few games back where you could class MvE and Rudoni as wingbacks. That back three was miles above what we’ve got now but needed all three. meta is MvE pushes up with Rudoni Hamer and Sheaf sit with Fadz Doyle and McNally as your defensive three. Maybe Thomas over McNally if Fadz can manage him a bit.

Or something like that anyway. That team murders the Luton team we lost to in the final.

Add a couple of CBs and a RW to that and I’d back it to make a good fist of staying up TBH.
