As we go into a new year we hope 2015 will be a good one for the Sky Blues. It got me thinking what was the best year for me while following the City ? 87 was great as we won the Cup but for me it was 1967 when we got promoted to division 1. What was the best year for other fans ?

87 for me - also a great year for me personally. That year stands out as a marker for how good it gets.

87 should be excluded to make this thread remotely worthwhile.

First half of 98 for me - we were one of the finest sides in the country.

89/90 - Speedie in form, LC SF (when it actually meant something) Kevin Gallacher, punch up between Benno's brother and Speedie up at Roker, some full houses, about 10k people on the Kop for the QF replay (when clubs used to
Massively under-declare attendances - particularly when a %age went to the away team and there was loads of cash through the turnstiles). We finished about 7th that year, was about 3rd for ages.

Proper football.

The year we qualified for Europe in 1970, I think it was. My earliest memories of watching that great team with me and my dad going to virtually every game home and away.

my old man had a conked out mini with a top speed of fiftyish it seemed so it would take an age to get anywhere, but I loved the journeys to grounds in those days, open roads and all that , then we would watch our great team give very side we played one of their hardest games of their season.

we battled for every ball and would never give up, teams used to hate playing us. All the early seventies were great infact

70/71 season for me, we made Europe and a fair few of us trudged over to Bayern Munich to watch us get hammered but it was so sweet watching on the kop when we beat them 2-1 in the return leg..happy days.

Off topic but covered In the CT this morning all the regular fanzone contributors giving various opinions on events this season .

The return to RICOH game got a mention and the Spine tingling moment when Nouble Scored was mentioned as a high ,just played It on CWR and the hairs on my neck stood up .

OK, I'm purposely not going to choose '87; obviously a great season but there were other good times. For me my favourite time was probably 83/84 and 84/85. OK, we were in relegation scraps, etc but at the time it was really exciting. Gould had to buy a whole new team and they scrapped and scraped as many results as they could. I'd also passed my driving test and got an old banger so me and my mate went home and away without missing any games for those two seasons. We still only missed a handful over the next ten years or so, but the whole experience was fantastic. Happy days!

THat was a great night. My lad looked a bit scared with all those people around him. We had a row to ourselves at Sixfields! :p

Can anybody remember which year it was when we had to win our last 3 games to stay up and we duly did wrapping it up with a 4-1 win against newly crowned champions Everton?

84-85. Remember listening to the Stoke game on the radio and jumping around like a lunatic when Stoke missed a pen late on which would have relegated us.The penalty taker was Ian Painter, which must have impressed us as we bought him the following year!

Would have been the cup winning season for m even if we had not won. The atmosphere around the full grounds in the games leading up to the cup final was immense - a party every game and the result secondary. Similarly the subsequent season with the exciting spredie and the belief around with extra season tickets sold in the run uo (there was a deal fir last few games and the following season ticket that guaranteed a final ticket). Most other seasons have had their moments when we get momentum for a period but without that sense that we can actually achieve.

Agree completely, my best year aside from '87. We were one of the best sides in the country that year and should have finished higher than 7th.
