Tis good. Haven't started on the new series yet, but if it lives up to the first two, I'll be Happy.Think it's been mentioned earlier in the thread but watching Happy Valley for the first time, decent. It's a part of the world I quite like.
On this recommendation I watched The Stranger the other night. Well worth a viewing I thought. A kind of different way at detailing a horrendous case.Without Sin - Another ITV crime drama with Vicky McClure. Thought it was really average, looking forward to her being back in Line of Duty tbh
The Stranger - Australian film on Netflix (not the Harlan Coben series) loosely based on a true story. Really good and atmospheric, recommend.
The real life murder case it's based on is horrendous. The investigative police work involved was fascinating
Based on the true story of a notorious British secret agent, watching A Spy Among Friends feels like a journey back in time to those classic '60s spy thrillers, with various plot threads that gradually weave into focus. Damian Lewis and Guy Pearce are excellent in their respective roles as conflicted old friends and Anna Maxwell Martin is superb as the sharp, dogged MI5 investigator trying to drill down to the truth.
Hell or High Water is an absolute cracker! Two films I’ve seen recently worth catching
Hell or high water - Jeff bridges and Chris pine. Modern day outlaw film. unfortunately likely to have to pay to watch on sky store etc. well worth it though. Can’t believe I’ve never come across it before
The oak room - bit quirky, suspense film on C4 catch up.
Both less than 1 hour 45mins which makes a change
also, watched a couple of old classics again over Xmas. Goodfellas on bbc (although got dvd) and then was looking for Casino and realised someone must’ve nicked my dvd and couldn’t see it anywhere on stream so bought a used copy for £2.50 (recycling). What a film !
ps loving catching up with Detector. Halfway through second season

I was exactly the same and thought it would be cheesy American shite that I’d hate.Ted Lasso (Apple TV) - Been avoiding this cos I was sure I’d get pissed off with the bad football takes, but just binged both seasons. Ridiculously feel good and barely any actual football in it TBF. Though they do call City “physical bordering on violent” which I thought was hilarious. Actually think the missus would like it more than me but can’t get her to watch it cos it’s a football show.
Maybe I need to give it another go. Only watched the first episode and I just couldn't get into it. Didn't really laugh either. Maybe I need to give it more time. For anyone who has never watched it or has not watched it for a while then BBC4 is showing the first two episodes of Early Doors tonight and think all episodes will be available on the iPlayer.
Probably my favourite comedy series of all time.

I really loved it and bought the DVD set. I loaned to a mate who I thought had similar tastes in humour as me, but he just couldn't get into it. Each to their own I suppose. For anyone who has never watched it or has not watched it for a while then BBC4 is showing the first two episodes of Early Doors tonight and think all episodes will be available on the iPlayer.

Just finished this too - hoping for a second series to carry on the story.Just finished The Peripheral. Bit confused at times, but overall, I really liked it.
Is that based on the Irvine Welsh book?Filth on Prime. One crazy f***ed up movie with a great cast.
That's the one.Is that based on the Irvine Welsh book?
That's the one.
The Light in the Hall - Welsh murder mystery drama on Channel 4 about a mother trying to solve her missing daughter, but also focuses on the murderer getting released from prison. Really enjoyed it, great acting too. Can't unsee Ramsey Bolton from Game of Thrones though
Our Flag Means Death - Comedy HBO series just released to iPlayer based around a pirate ship with Rhys Darby and Taika Waititi. Really wholesome and funny when it focuses more on the main two characters
Have you been watching TV round at @Grendel's?The Menu - major disappointment, was expecting a twisty satire, but it ended up being Saw with rich people. Far less than the sum of its parts.
Glass Onion - dreadful. Knives Out was a fun modern whodunnit, this turned Blanc into a cartoon character and tried to pack in as many topical celebrity references as possible - it’s going to date horribly.
Add in both seasons of The White Lotus and I think I’ve done quite enough ‘awful rich people get murdered in swanky location’ content for one month.

I agree. I thought Glass Onion was much the better film.Weird that, as I enjoyed Glass Onion much more than Knives Out, which I found just okay.I think I had bigged it up too much in my mind, so was expecting brilliance, but then found that I just quite liked it.
Thought Glass Onion was so much more fun.
Yeah, I liked Midsommar tooI agree. I thought Glass Onion was much the better film.
The Menu I thought was ok. worth a watch but nothing to write home about.
Someone I know likened it to a shit Midsommar…which I thought great albeit essentially a remake of the Wicker Man.
