Because 2 of the 3 we have are a bit shit?We have 3 strikers and look like we will be playing 433 /4231.why are people panicking about strikers, especially after letting one go who is no better than what we already have? Seems a bit bizarre
I don’t have a bad attitude to him at all, he’s an outstanding league 2 striker.Yes he's left here scored 1 in 15 at Reading nearly all sub appearances and was frozen out, then moved to hibs and scored 8 in 17.
Hardly had the game time to prove anything elsewhere, he is a very good player and helped us get promoted, unsure why you have such a bad attitude towards the lad
And please tell us, at what other level has MM achieved a similar strike rate.8 in 17 is a great strike rate, fatso is probably one of these mugs who thinks the SPL is on a par with League 1
He came and asked me to leave and that's something he wanted to do.
"And he wasn't necessarily leaving us, it was to go and play in the Championship and when you get an opportunity like that, and it was right for us as well, you can't really knock that back.
"I would have done but it suited me, and still suits me, and suits us as a football club as well for a number of reasons and also gives us the opportunity to do something else.
"You don't let them go unless the deal is right."
As for a replacement, Robins said: “I have got a couple in mind and one that I have been pursuing for a while."
Today would be niceJust hope we don't take ages again to sign someone. We need someone in ideally next week at the latest and not the last week in August
Incorrect, the quote directly from Robins states that the funding (shortfall) from the owners will be to cover the budget for this season.
All money he gets from player sales adds to his budget.
So he asked to go be surprised if he scores more than 10 goals in the championship for Barnsley next season he prob seen the state of the club with the move to brum & thought its not for him.I think we will sign either Walker or Marquis.
I don’t have a bad attitude to him at all, he’s an outstanding league 2 striker.
He was fantastic for us, and instrumental in getting us promoted.
I just don’t feel (and his stats would imply) that he struggles at a higher level.
Typo, I feel he DOES struggle at a higher level.Wait, you DON’T feel he struggles at a higher level?
If only getting 4 starts isn’t struggling, then I don’t know what is!McNulty hasn’t struggled at any level - he only started 4 times in the championship
Now he’s gone and it’s confirmed that he asked to leave am I allowed to say that he’s got the worst beard and fringe combination I’ve ever seen.
I can’t believe this got 2 likes, how thick are some people?McNulty hasn’t struggled at any level - he only started 4 times in the championship
Poor positional sense because when he came on it was to replace bright or another midfielder and he would play number 10, something you can see he didn't have he is a striker that would benefit of a big man and if you think his movement is poor I suggest you actual go games rather than watching highlights pretty much game in he would make a bunch of good runs and not be found .1. Chaplin is too slow over the first 10 yards (surprising for a man of his height and build)
2. He had a poor positional sense - not just too deep but often the wrong place. He was the only forward not involved in the Hiwula goal against Southend because he was way out on the touchline where Bayliss already was - to cite one example
3. Wobbly first touch - bad for a striker
4. You can be short, but he is too short for a striker if you also lack the skills 1-3 above
If he comes good, then good for him, but he would not be our turn key for success. Take the money and run
Asked if he will get the Chaplin money to reinvest in the team, Robins told CoventryLive: “No, not necessarily.
“I have not asked for that and I don’t necessarily need that.
“And I have got to be mindful because we have to manage the spend, and obviously moving stadium means we’re going to have a shortfall in revenue, and that’s unknown.
“That’s the thing about spinning plates. We have brought players in and the net spend will be negative and we have got to be like that otherwise we’ll put ourselves in trouble.
“We know what we have sold season ticket-wise now but we don’t know what the following will be to Birmingham.
“We know the away following is always spectacular but we don’t get any of the revenue from that, so it’s all those things that have a knock-on.”
There should be no surprise at this, entirely sensible in our current circumstances. Think a few were getting carried away without thinking of the realities.
Also i notice the talk is of a possible loan move for Walker not a purchase and certainly not at £1m!
Won me many a Spanish title and Champions League trophy with Valencia. If we're looking at a number 10, why don't we look at Zach Clough? Seems to have lost his way a bit but I thought he looked good for Bolton a few years back.
Randomly stumbled across this. As there have been questions about Tyler Walker not signing immediately thought I'd share it
Flitcroft here talks about parent clubs wanting to keep players for pre-season games:
Forest are probably just doing the same here. He'll be here soon.
So he asked to go be surprised if he scores more than 10 goals in the championship for Barnsley next season he prob seen the state of the club with the move to brum & thought its not for him.I think we will sign either Walker or Marquis.
Obviously not saying Robins is going to get a million to spend, far from it but how often to managers say "I have all this money now to go and buy players" if we are trying to bring players in.
If we were trying to buy Walker for 500k for example and they see we have just sold Chaplin so have more that 500k may become 800k if Robins is bragging about having it all to spend
