Big Chances Missed (1 Viewer)

He got a 5 year deal at Reading where he failed miserably making only 13 appearances and managing to score a grand total of 1 goal. I'm sure he took them for a lot of money, but he's rated as one of the worst signings in the club's history, that's quite some legacy.

Yes he played for Sunderland, they gave him15 games and he excelled there managing 2 goals before they fucked him off back to Reading without wanting to extend his stay.

He also played for Scotland, making his debut as a substitute in one of Scotlands worst ever results, a 3-0 thumping from the mighty Kazakhstan 🤣🤣🤣

Last season saw him turning out for the mighty Shamrock Rovers in the Irish pub league, where again he managed 1 goal, this time from 10 appearances.

Looking back over his career I think it's fair to say his best and most successful time was here at Cov when he had a good half a season in league 2, Which was about his level on a good day, and he owes that to MR.

His wasted career should serve as a warning to all young players not to get their heads turned by greedy agents offering a quick buck before they are ready to step up.
If he'd of stayed here another year and continued to develop under MR he could have gone on to be a really decent player at a much better club than Reading!
I wish I’d wasted my career

Hasn't Wright missed a couple since being back?
One against Burnley sticks in the mind when we were 1-0 up 😜

Funnily enough I think because he missed it it’s not counted.

Funnily enough, there are a number of people who sit by me who, unbelievably, really don't appreciate Wright's skills. Do you sit near me? 😂

I never got this response - if we’re talking as a person, he did great for himself.

but I don’t think you can brag about his career as a footballer.

“yeah - mate I played 13 times for reading, scored 1 goal and got carted off to league one Sunderland when they were on their knees. Now no English team will touch me so I’m playing for a 2nd tier American side”

The OP comes across as a complete bell-end.

Why would you link someone into something that's deliberately dissing them? What purpose does it serve?

It's not the worst example, but it's a good demonstration of how social media really brings out the twat in people.

Last night's conversion rate isn't going to do us any favours in this stat! Our killer instinct in the final third since the international break has been sadly lacking. In general it has been because of well-organised defences, but Hull's keeper played a blinder.
In the City Unseen videos, we see training sessions where they play tippy-tappy to each other like in the school playground, and their runs into the box are impeded only by static obstructions. I wonder how much they play HARD against a mobile defence in training? Mind you, our defence won't be much of a challenge at the moment either!
Sorry, i'm a bit disillusioned after the last two games against very poor opposition.

Yeah, he hasn't done badly, considering most of the fanbase had already written him off by November in League Two.

Yeah I think most must have been earlier in season, we have scored 36 times in 24 games since Lampard took over, which only Leeds can beat. Would be nice if we could thump someone before end of the season though, just to make our goal difference a bit closer to those around us
Hopefully Luton, when we send them down.
I wish I wasn't so bitter and twisted

pretty much sums up modern football doesn't it. a player doing something for less money because its a better option for their long term career is pretty rare.

tbf not sure that's different to most of us but we prefer to think of professional sportsman as having a burning desire for success that comes before everything else when in reality for many its just a job. sure its a job they love and not the daily misery most of us suffer but still a job.

I thought we missed a shed load of opportubitues last night some decent.

Saw something which said our Xg was 1.14??? I mean how?

The shots we took were low percentage ones from tight angles mostly. I’d guess Hajis header was the highest xG.

I wonder how many taking a pop at Sparky would have done the exact same thing as him? If he does his ACL and at the age he was at, never gets that big contract at REading or anywhere. Look after your family whilst you can. He was part of our history and fired us to promotion. We used his fee to buy Chaplin, sold Chaplin to buy Godden etc and it was all part of the journey. Forever grateful.

I don’t think they were taking a pop at his decision, financially it makes massive sense. But let’s not pretend his football career took off.

didn’t his agent suggest he may refuse to play aswell? That may irritate a few
