In this league we should. The fact that we have the worst manager in the league suggests otherwise but even with that handicap I think well get promoted easily to be honest.

The fact? I'm pretty sure that's not a fact, just a personal observation?
And clubs that have been down for as long as us that are similar size, without points deduction - Forest? I can't remember if they've had a points deduction or not, I didn't think so though?
EDIT: I'd actually say Forest are bigger than us too, but have been down for longer.

I was thinking more whether our owners think like a big club. Don't big clubs pay the odd transfer fee.

To honest, I just do not care if CCFC can be regarded as a "big club" or not.

Good research and interesting reading. It highlights that Pompey have the most successful recent history, having won the FA Cup in 2008 and the 7 most recent Premier League seasons. Like Pompey, we've all ended up in League 1 for similar reasons, mainly financial mis-management. I reckon that leaves Cov the second most successful in recent times and Sheff Utd third.

Coventry on population is the 11th largest in England & Wales according to ukcities.co.uk. This should mean top flight support is available if only the club can match the ambition of the fans. It also means Wakefield and Bradford should be Premier League too...

I think what coventry achieved in 34 years was remarkable.ok 1 piece of notable silverware but thats not the point.we mixed it with the big boys and were succesful in our own way.anybody noticed that the demise of our football club has gone hand in hand with the demise of the motor trade and many solid jobs in the city.

Although I would'nt say we are a 'big club', because we are not, I would say we are a 'big club' in L1 bearing in mind that teams like Stevenage, Yeovil, Crawley, MK Dons were in non-league/didn't exist, that alone would make us a 'big club' in their eyes (and ours) because we had been in the Premier League/Division 1 whilst they lingering in Non-League. Bearing in mind we have supporter potential to fill out the Ricoh, that would make us a big club as a lot of the clubs in our league have a stadium at least 1/2 as small as the Ricoh.

Out if interest. How many teams recently have been promoted from league 1 without spending a single penny on transfer fees.
Don't get me wrong I understand the reasons why we haven't. However maybe we just need a bit of a reality check.
Personally I still think we need a creative midfielder and an out and out goalscorer before we have a chance of the top six.

To date I cannot see a single transfer fee declared this season. Peterborough reduced their playing squad by 11 sold over £3 million worth of players, spent 10% of this and got promoted.

Who knows and the only other big city is Bradford. The stats do say this is bigger than Coventry but this has always been a mystery to me. It always to me is an outskirts of Leeds.

So we conclude that Bradford is part of Leeds and Wakefield isn't a city, Bristol and Sheffield's populations are split between moderate sized clubs: leaving Cov in the Champions League!!

We dont buy players anymore.
We feed kids to plug areas of the first team.
We have no money.
Heavily in debt.

Are we a big club? As in like Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal, Man City............are we fook
Are we a smaal club like Yeovil, MK dons or any club in Div3 or Div4? Are we fook.
Average to slightly above average only. Just because we are amongst small clubs it don't make us a small club. When we were in the prem did it make us a big club? Did it fook. We are just a middle of the road club. Sleeping giant maybe, but not big or small.

Cov and Warwickshire is a plenty big enough catchment to attract decent crowds if people in this area were passionate about football

Yep - cov and Warwickshire is about 850k population. We should easily filling the ricoh, but there's far too much apathy.
