... being made by Bolton by winning all these games at the start.

Surely the first two months are about getting the squad together and blended in.

Will they regret this?

Classic.
Once you have the points in the bag nobody can take them away from you
I rate TM highly but I strongly disagree with his tactic/view of only having half a squad at the start of the season
I understand the loanees not becoming available from PL squads etc etc but 15% of the season will be gone and points lost for ever
I think its more about saving money on the salary budget

Yeah it was posted tongue in cheek, but I'm really just highlighting my annoyance of the sound bytes post match... it's almost like the Football League have told TM that points only count from October.

I get that PL clubs are sorting their squads etc. But the club aren't letting us into the Ricoh for free during August and September!

I thought that Mowbray only liked Pre Christmas points? Or is he trying for the reverse?

It's obviously a great marketing ploy by SISU, starting off in the relegation zone is a sure fire way to push out all those 20, 19, 18, 17, 16.......11......5 match packages !!
Either that or TM is trying to pre-empt all those 'we always drop down after Xmas' comments by making sure we hardly have anywhere else left to fall !?

I mentioned this before

Mowbray top at Xmas no playoffs this year bottom at Xmas take the second half by storm and win the league :)
That'll so nicely thank you :)

Bully boyz, is that like Boyz in Da Hood, or Backstreet Boyz?

I am sorry but I am not conversant in street language, perhaps you can assist?
It's when people claim they are being bullied because more than one person disagree.

No , its the manner in what they disagree , and the language used , you know like children in a play ground .

Perhaps Mowbray knows that last season if we had gone up we'd be absolutely destroyed in the championship due to having a squad so heavily reliant on loans. Perhaps he's biding his time to get quality young players here who can gel as a team over the next couple of seasons so when we do go up we're more likely to be able to compete. Perhaps he knows what he's doing and going nuts after 4 games of a league one season is a bit immature.

Or maybe it's all SISU's fault for taking the money away and Mowbray is telling gobshite fans how fucked things are.

You guys make out like Mowbray decided in June to just not sign people till the middle of August. He's being patient and ensuring we get the right players in. I'd rather this than rushing in to signing Malaga, Edge, Elliott, Swanson etc.

Agree with bring patient but no point only having a competitive team for 38 games. Need to be competing in all 46. It's hard enough without being 10 points behind. This is a result of having players on one year contracts.

I keep reading Barnsley on other threads as an example of why everything's going to be fine. Their post Christmas results were P30 W20 D7 L3. That's miracle form. It's like saying we'd be in with a shout of winning the PL if we got there because Leicester did it.

Having seen the Barnsley match at home last season when we were flying and they were bottom... to think one of those teams got promoted and it wasn't us gives me hope that you can put a run together at almost any point of the season and you've got a chance.

That isn't the point people are making. Early form only helps with points accumulated, it doesn't help with the promotional run in. Post Christmas form accumulates points, but that form can also be inspirational in the promotional run in.

It is like good runners tend to set the pace towards the end of a race, rather than at the begining.

It's a poor start. But poor starts can be salvaged, they don't automatically wreck your season.

That isn't the point on other threads. They're being pointed to as the example of why it's alright being in the relegation zone now because they still ended up in the play offs. But it took an exceptional run to get there. So yes, it can be done and no the season isn't wrecked but it's going to take something extraordinary to achieve automatic promotion and something brilliant to make the play offs when sitting on 2 points from 4 games when we have a squad still missing 4 players plus 5 injuries and a fit squad of 18 including the kids.

Should a realistic expectation be automatic promotion?

In mogs we trust. Good old moggy the mogster. Mogging around til he's mogged off and some other club mog him on for a few seasons, then he mogs it all up again and the mogination continues.

Maybe he's trying to emulate 2013-14 when we started 10 points behind everyone else thanks to admin??? We were playing alright then, as I recall. Until Bradford away. Oh, wait ...!
