Had Mowbray not signed (and many said he wouldn't even come here in the first place), would Allardyce have been the right person (and many will say we wouldn't come here in the first place)?

Odd that a man strongly tipped to be the next England Manager a few years back seems to get pushed when he's doing a fairly good job.

Just what would he know about managing a third division team on a very tight budget?

Sharp intake of breath. Narrowly missed out on an automatic promotion with Blackpool (one point IIRC) with a very tight budget, got Notts Country promoted in March (one of the earliest promotions ever) before winning by a record points haul over second placed team, Notts Country not exactly being well known for their huge budgets. Apart from that fuck all probably.

Is he still pissed st Coventry for not giving him a playing contract? Probably wouldn't have got him for that reason alone I'd have thought. You

Good old Sam has a back room staff that wouldn't fit into the Ryton Training Ground!

He's had enough, for now, long holiday!

You're going back some time there though. With the budgets he's had to play with over a prolonged period now, do you think he's seen much football in Leagues 1 & 2 and the Conference?

Big Sam has a roof as a manager, he can keep a team up with ease - It didn't take that much managerial ability to keep that West Ham squad up however - and have them around mid-table put rarely can take them on to that next level. He'll get a job in the Prem/Championship if and when he wants one.

Perhaps he might renew his interest in buying the club. By the way he's talking it seems like his next role might not be a managerial one.

He would have made a 'perfect' England manager, after all his club managerial record shows him to be the king of mediocrity. I think around that time even I was 27th on the list.

Yes, I've also been told something secret by an inconsequential person that I shalln't reveal on here.

Have you heard something ? From what i heard today don't rule this out

No, I haven't heard anything Rupert, I'm just speculating as I seem to remember he was part of the consortium (with Hoffman and Elliott) that put in a bid to SISU four years back but had to withdraw when he took the WHU job as its against regulations to have a vested interest in two clubs at once.

The reasons he is giving for leaving WHU, particularly about management consuming his life and wanting to spend more time with his family made me think he has half an eye on a backseat role somewhere.
