Big talent already at the club (1 Viewer)

Whilst I like the optimism (and maybe you know something that I don’t), I think that all of those players mentioned aren’t yet good enough to rely on as subs. Imagine being 1-1 against Leeds and we swap an injured Simms for Dausch or a tired Eccles for Burroughs, we’d then be at a big disadvantage in the game.

We need subs to come on and make an impact rather than weaken the team. I’m sure they’ll be good in time but I hope that the recruitment don’t start thinking we’ve got enough depth now just because we have these youngsters.
I went to Hearts v Dundee six weeks or so ago. Howley doesn't start for Dundee and they are absolutely dross in terms of quality. He came on at right wing back and offered very little. Unsure why he is being played at wing back, but worries me (given the lack of quality) how he wasn't starting (let alone coming off the bench) at CM for them.

I think this highlights how poor our pool of younger talent has been in recent years, not many players have even had a sniff of a game for us and it seems that even when they join lesser clubs they can’t do a decent job. I think it’ll take a while for our academy to get up and running properly, just needs investment and more scouting imo.

Burroughs, Obikwu, Andrews and Dausch all have a chance to break through IMO. Obikwu is probably a little ahead in that he's done well on loan to a league club, stayed injury free and the fact we are not awash with strikers.

I think some of it is a hangover from some poor scouting done in the Badlan era.
