In the 1970's Man United studied Glasgow Rangers as they couldn't understand how they were turning over so much money. Glasgow Rangers had a brand and copyright on their souvenirs. Where as any old Tom, Dick or Harry could churn out a Man United scarf and the club wouldn't earn a penny.

to be fair - go to spain and see the madrid and barcelona rip offs everywhere - but both teams still do very well
