Absolute shit show, feels like an upgrade we didn't need. Arrived super early 2 hours ago and only just got into spoons for a swift one. Much worse behind us, so glad we didn't aom for our usual 2 hours before departure.

If you're heading away over the summer, give yourself plenty of time.

I flew In the afternoon 2 weeks ago took 20 minutes to get through.
It's the mornings when they can't cope. If your flight is between 6:30 and 9:30 you're going to be queuing for a long, long time - rest of the day is usually OK - but the schools haven't broken up yet.

Just to keep this as a 'Football' and not 'General' thread - does anyone know when are City flying out to their training camp?

The place is a shambles, last year it took us about 3 hours to get through security on a morning flight, had to run to the flight, and in the end the flight was only a third full due to everyone stuck in security.

Flew out again about 3 weeks ago, got there 4 hours early, was through security in 5 minutes and ended up with a big delay for the plane, spent about 7 hours at the airport, fuming!

Out of interest did you fly with Jet 2?

Definitely a morning problem.

We flew out late Monday afternoon with Jet2 and bought fast track tickets and sailed through in about 20 minutes.

Flying back in early hours of Tuesday morning so will see if there are any problems the other way.

On coach now waiting transfer to resort. Tbh didn't know about fast track until we were there and only available pre-purchase not on the day. Tbh wonder if it's a tactic to make it extra slow, to encourage more people paying fast track, although £20 ok on your own, expensive extra cost for a family.

Having said that we've saved over £1k going before the school holidays really get going as daughter did her gcse's this year.

EMA used to have signs welcoming you to “the gateway to Loughborough”!

Never flew from Cov, but picked my parents up from there once. My Dad passed their suitcases over a fence when they had landed 😂

How much of a "Morning problem" is it at Birmingham?

I'm flying out of there at 6am in September, surely there aren't going to be mad queues at pre-5am? Or am i mistaken?

Apparently it is just the morning flights that are seeing the big queues. I’m off to Spain Monday evening so keeping my fingers crossed. We have somebody in our party that requires assistance/wheelchair so that might see us jump the queue if there is one. 😁

It's the worst airport I have ever flown from for its size. The CEO who is on 700k a year gave himself a pay rise and recently came out justifying it. He should be fired but somehow still remains.

Could list a hundred things wrong with they airport but I've already posted enough about it on this forum. Would just advise to boycott it. Was at Gatwick yesterday and was through security in less than two minutes.

Never flown from Birmingham and have no intention of doing so any time soon. The flights tend to be more expensive than Heathrow so just go from there, its only an hour down the m40 and you save yourself a lot of hassle.

The responses from airport staff have been terrible. Every time they speak its basically there's no problem, it's the passengers fault.

It’s the only airport where without fail my bags end up having to be searched. The last three times they didn’t even look inside and just said they’re fine. It look 15 minutes just to be told that.

Even going out into arrivals is usually chaos and if you’re tourist or don’t know the airport, good luck finding the train station.

Gatwick, especially the North Terminal, is easily the best airport in the country.

That has been withdrawn for peak early morning flights …
Not if you buy direct from the Airline - I flew last Friday for an 08:00 flight and got through in 15 minutes. Non fast track took over 2 hours apparently

On the UK I only use Heathrow and that's only twice a year. Luckily in Bangkok flights are 24/7 no night time flight ban.

15 minutes for fast track is a lot longer than any other airport. When I use it at Gatwick the whole process takes less than a minute.
