Considering it’s England’s second city’s airport, that really shouldn’t be an issue. If you are flying with Jet2, you can use their stairs/escalator from check-in upto security. It cuts out some of the outside queuing.
I've been right at the back of the outside queue recently and although it looks daunting, it moves quickly. You rarely stand still. Took about 50 mins and that was from outside right at the end of the terminal. And despite the scare stories, people are very rarely missing flights. There are member of staff which move you forward in the queue if your boarding time is approaching.
Not denying it's very poor at the moment, but the problem is being exasperated by people turning up far too early for their flights.
It’s hardly surprising though and more evidence that it’s not fit for purpose. We were there a Thursday at around 6. Took about 45 minutes from the queue to the new lifts through to security. One of the problems is that people are reading about all the queues so are getting there earlier to avoid them but are then just compounding the problem. There were people in the queue behind us who were there four hours early!!!
They only give out so many fast track , we travelled three weeks ago from brum 0616 flight queues were awful, nearly missed flight , will not travel from that dump again.Pay the £5 security fast track. It’s worth it’s weight in gold.
Absolutly - its as dull as the COH, Stamenic threads!Imagine a thread on airports being already 2 pages long in the football section of the forum
Sums up the tedious window we're having
Says it all that getting through security in 30 mins is considered very quick.Went to Malta a few weeks ago from Birmingham. Was through security very quickly - about 30 minutes. It was a 6AM flight though and I was at the airport about 2:15AM. It took longer getting through passport control in Malta on the way back
I think the expectations planted have been massively changed now. With the airport blaming the passengers as well, I think some people are starting to believe it. The reality is that it is a dog shit airport and it should be avoided out of principal alone for what they are doing.Says it all that getting through security in 30 mins is considered very quick.
From door to through including check in is not bad. If no luggage would expect around 15-20Says it all that getting through security in 30 mins is considered very quick.
The only airports I’ve had to wait that long are JFK, East Midlands and Birmingham. From door to through including check in is not bad. If no luggage would expect around 15-20
I mean, if you’re expecting circa 30,000-35,000 commuters to get through an airport without a minor hitch every day, that’s a you problem.
It really isn't.
Other airports manage it perfectly fine. For its size, BHX really isn't that busy anyway. They're fucking things up massively.
Anyone else bored of Brum airport can we get back to talking footy pleaseOh I agree. I don’t know specifically what they’re doing so wrong to cause the early mess. But it’s never always gonna go swimmingly, as people seem to expect. People have listed airports above as being bad that others have had no problems at. JFK, Heathrow, EMA, a few examples. Luck shouldn’t have anything to do with it, but I guess it does
JFK is probably one of the biggest airports in the world. Birmingham is just very badly run and shouldn’t even be comparable to it.Oh I agree. Agree but especially those who walk through with shit in their pockets a few times and act surprised each time the metal detector goes off.Obviously there are operational issues at BHX…but part of the problem is the number of people who get to the front of queue and then decide that’s the time they’ll take their watches/ coats off and empty their pockets of shitloads of coins. Boils my piss.
Haven't flown in 20 years but sunday went from Gatwick South. 10mins checking in baggage self service.
5mins through security.
Surprisingly pleasant but fcuk did I moan about kids ordering a breakfasts....which came to £70 fpr 4 !!!!
Blimey.... bit off topic. You haven't left the country in twenty years but you fill the politics forum with bilge around other cultures and far left rhetoric? I'm not sure anyone is going to take you seriously on this forum again when you try to police their language and jump on anybody with a different opinion and label them various names.
Get the train to International (or park there - it is cheaper than the airport), then the monorail to BHX. Wasn't too bad when we did it at 4am, and later in the day is better, i believe. If you are worried, see if you can shell out a fiver pp on Fast Track.
Im doing it on Sunday evening. I was there on Tuesday early PM and departures looked horrendous.Bump.
Has anyone flown from BHX in the afternoon recently? How has it been from about midday onwards?
