Just back, fekkin awesome. Made more noise with smaller number again tonight than for ages. Lots of deserved man love for Dovin, hope he's our keeper for the next 10 years but let's remember his high ceiling when he drops the inevitable clanger that sll keepers do occasionally (that's occasionally Brad if you're reading). Motm again, back to back clean sheets too.

Big shout out for MVE tonight too. Massive improvement and covered loads of ground. Still feel we've got something missing in midfield and they won a lot of headers, but are a big side so that's forgivable. Nice to see Ellis get a goal, let's see if he can kick on from here and get on a run.
What did you think of Blackburn giving
Makhtar Gueye man of the match

I agree...id rate him the same a 5.Hes just wastes every opportunity..Simms wins the ball gives to BTA..then he runs into about 5 players and loses the ball...rinse repeat every 5 mins. Frustrating.
How can he waste every opportunity and end up scoring? Its an oxymoron!

He should also get credit for a goal line clearance.

Probably because Lampard didn’t exactly pick Collins over Dovin, he just stuck with the keeper who’d been starting before he came in, as most managers would.
And then he seen at first hand how bad he was and went for the better option, at least through Asantes comical showings he is actually contributing and picking up goals but Collins was just picking out goals.....from his own net!

What on Earth was Dovin doing on the bench all that time earlier in the season? He's won us plenty of points already and kept us in it first half tonight too.
Your words in October

Spending millions on goalkeepers was a stupid decision at the time and looks even more so now

I want to see this goal line clearance again. I swear it wasnt BTA. I was watching a stream with Clive & Oggy commentary. Clive said it was BTA but I thought it was Simms.

Arrhhh right I can see now. Simms is stood behind him on the line, BTA a yard or so out.
What did you think about BTA’s goal at the time. His or Simms?

Interesting they gave Simms the assist - for a 2 cm pass?

There should have been at least a free kick for the pull back on MVE ( initial contact just outside the area in my view. Great place for a free kick though, central and only 18 yards out). Mind you, that should have been academic as Rudoni really should have scored - again.

In real time looked like BTA tackled Simms to get the goal. Doesn't really matter though.

Stupid to give the assist to Simms though. Do we not have a Dubious Assist Panel? :ROFLMAO:

That pass made BTA offside. There was a defender in with the two of them so it’s hard to tell for sure but I think he was offside

On the basis that they’re going to give it to a home player, I think he was their best on the night. He was a bit of a handful, particularly in the air (he won most duals in the air, and set up some dangerous monents). He was no slouch on the ground either. I thought he was decent.

I thought Rudoni was very good last night. I was in the Riverside stand behind him as he played along the left touchline. He looked so confident on receiving the ball, and was a constant danger. Didn’t quite find the right final ball when reaching the touchline, but I thought he looked a class act, with hopefully more to come.

That’s how assists work though?
Not sure if the dubious goals panel is still around. What was agreed was if a shot/header is deemed to be on target even if it deflects into the goal off an opposition player it counts as a goal for the player who took the shot , header etc.

Same. I thought he looked a decent player and caused us problems.

Don't assists have to be a bit intentional?

If Simms intent was to score and it hit off BTA and went in, isn't that a deflection like it would be if it went in off a defender?
Nope. Reason #3254656 as to why assists (in isolation) are a terrible stat.
