A win and we can call this a good start to the season.

We should be looking at a win tbh, they're a newly promoted side and someone we should be looking to finish above.

Alternatively a loss and it looks like a poor start to the season, we'd have only played 3 average at best sides and taken 3 points, which we very nearly didn't get.
Or a point a game, if we had 3 draws would it have constituted a poor start?

Andy Woolmer is the ref tonight, I can’t remember who we were playing against last season, but remember him being atrocious.

The funny thing is that the offside thing gets exaggerated to have digs at him. There have been strikers since who have been offside a lot mroe.

Totally agree other than that game.

Tonight will be an interesting game. They looked a real handful last season in games I watched and I'm guessing they're in a similar situation to us last season in that they're acclimatising to this higher level.

They'll be fancying tonight to get their first win against us but if we assert ourselves like we have in both second half displays against Forest and Barnsley I think we can edge it. Defensively they look a little ropey. I'd be instructing O'Hare to run at Keogh constantly

1-2 Waghorn, O'Hare

Isn't he the ref who the Swansea manager publically said 'I hope he never refs us again' and was then assigned to our game away at Swansea and proceeded to give them all the decisions?

Yes, it was that game.

Against Forest, Barnsley and Blackpool yeah.

We need to pick up points against the lesser sides as we saw last season teams like Bournemouth and the relegated sides will more often than not absolutely batter us.

Should be aiming for more than 46 points.

And to be fair, there's games last season that we should've easily have taken 3 instead of 1 or 1 instead of none. Given our tough start last season, in terms of match fitness compared to the rest of the division and the fact we played something like the top 10 in the first 10 games, I'm pretty comfortable that we will better that points target this season.

Sky says they have the option of screening all mid-week fixtures this season but they're not starting until the 2nd 'round' of games in mid-September. I don't know why that is.
I think I read somewhere that sky are showing all the midweek fixtures for the championship WHEN it is opposite the champions League games (not preliminary) - probably due to BT having these games.
Looking ahead to the next few months, some fixtures are on red button and some are on ifollow.

On paper our first 4 games can't really ask for much easier. All 4 teams will likely finish bottom half and 1 or 2 relegated.

Confident of a victory tonight.

On the whole we were poor against Forest and won, yet good against Barnsley and lost - not an unfamiliar pattern to last year.

However, I am confident we will improve as we go on and are capable of scoring - more so than last year. Being down to two strikers is not ideal, but a positive is our strike force still looks good despite having two potential starters out.

Always liked Keogh but he was ropey by all reports at the weekend so Gyokeres and COH running at him/moving him around will cause problems.

I hope we get a Bright cameo tonight, as whether he is terrible or terrific this forum will be fun to read later.

Also expecting Dabo to step up even more tonight, especially against a weaker opponent (at least on paper).

1 - 3, Gyokeres, COH, JCS.

brave man, I don't think I've ever been confident before a game as opposed to hopeful :)

Could see us starting with Allen and reverting to a box formation. At least that leaves us with a striker on the bench if we’re in need of a goal.

I hope Blackpool's pre-match fact finding is as poor as their local Newspaper's. The Blackpool Gazette have us down as having only one striker fit. Unless that is a subtle burn for Gyökeres...

SPOILER ALERT:

It's going to be a draw. This article mentions the replay

have know idea what they are like. Saw them a few times last season and they looked ok. But this is a different kettle of fish for them now
