I think Robins if able will play an unchanged team. A fit Godden might start and Eccles could move into midfield but he looks if he had a bit calf injury.

Would think Kane and Allen come back in for Eccles and Maatsen. If fit. Although wouldn’t be averse to seeing Maatsen played AM again, there was something there, even if he did look a bit out of place at times. Also harsh on Eccles as he’s been very good but Kane is the better RWB.

You could make an argument that he starts over Hamer based on recent form. I think the 12 odd games in six weeks coming will see them all get plenty of minutes anyway.

We don't know yet. He hasn't had an opportunity. With Godden injured, Walker on loan, Gyokeres probably knackered and Waghorn coming back from a long injury absence, I don't think it is too odd suggesting he may have an opportunity.

Dont see why we cant recover well enough for this. Granted no one wanted extra time, but Blackpool also played today sp we only have 30 minutes extra in our legs.

30 minutes against a Premiership side while Blackpool were cruising to victory, it will be a factor come Tuesday unfortunately. Hopefully not a deciding one.

My concern for the players is psychological rather than physical, we made 5 subs yesterday so I’m not all that worried over tired legs. 3 games out of 4 now they’ve lost by a single goal when they should have won handsomely. Will need some picking up

Be surprised if JCS recovers in time for Tuesday - that challenge on Broja illustrated where he was at. Wasn't sure if Eccles had a knock or was just cramping up. If it's tiredness, I would think most should recover - niggles plus tiredness might mean one or two need replacing. I'm expecting Fadz in and JCS out, based on what I saw at the end of the match. Would like Maatsen's energy on the pitch, and think Allen will play a part too, even if it's off the bench. At least O'Hare and Hamer escaped extra time. Tough game Tuesday - think there will only be one goal in it (4-1 to City)
He’s turbo-Ponticelli at this point. His legend only grows stronger with every game he doesn’t play, and with every time he runs really fast against Crewe U23s. Someone on here has already compared him to Wayne Rooney.

This thing about 'running really fast'.
It's not the only thing he does. He does actually score goals. He's got 15 in 16 games. Yes, it's nowhere near as intense a level but he has the composure to put the ball in the net when a chance arises. So next question is does he have that composure in a more pressured situation? Only way to find that out is give him the chance to prove it.
We've got one first team striker out on loan, another injured and the two that remain aren't prolific at the moment. Plus none of them have pace, so that aspect of his game does add something different to the mix.
Off the bench alongside Gyok or Waghorn, his speed against tired legs, put him on the shoulder of the last defender and try and play him in. Plus at the moment teams won't have done much research on him so would confuse opponents.
There's logic behind why people think he deserves a run out and he can't really do anymore at the level he's at to deserve that opportunity. We'll never know if we never give him the chance.

Gyokeres has far more strength and purpose than Tavares and he’s hardly a slouch
Tavares has appeared a fair few times for Rochdale - the notion he can be thrown in at championship level is just silly

It would be great to have the luxury of being 3-0 up with 15/20 minutes to go in a game and bring him on, so we can make a judgement on him.

I have seen him a couple of times in the U23 and he looks miles of the standard - the fact he’s still playing at that level says a lot
Why would we make a judgment on him based on a 15 minute cameo during a meaningless part of the game? Is that the only time Robins ever sees him play?

I do appreciate that U23 is a million miles away from Championship football, but at some point the kid needs a chance to see if he is up to it.

I don’t think MR’s team selection should cater to your curiosity about bit part U23 players. He should play his best available team, and clearly Tavares doesn’t even come close.

Really? I think you’re underestimating how dreadful young players can fare, and how unforgiving fans can be.
Besides, it’s almost certain that for now the best thing for Tavares’ career, at least in terms of reputation, is for him to never play and continue to rack up goals against Hull U23s. For as long as he can stay out of the first team, he’s a god in some people’s eyes.

First team training is where you show that you can step up physically and technically.
I don’t believe any manager would play a player on the strength of U23 performances - it’s why some players no matter how well they do at that level don’t get a chance.

Ok fair point, I know it’s a lot different to back in the day when the reserve league was of a fairly high standard and players would get there chance in the first team if they performed well. The fans loved it when that happened.
I don’t watch U23’s football so I can’t comment, but do you think this Taveres kid will ever get the chance to break through into our first team?
