Players to blame says Westwood

Coventry City keeper Keiren Westwood has told City supporters not to blame the manager for the team's current failings.

City go to Leeds today, not having won a League game since December 4th and Westwood told the CT: "Individual mistakes cost us against Forest and I have to hold my hands up and say I cost the lads at least a point.

"I feel sorry for the gaffer because no-one wants to make mistakes and we just need to get out of this rut we are in, start winning games again and start putting smiles back on faces.

"The fans and the gaffer don't deserve it. It was the same with Chris Coleman last season and he lost his job over it.

"I am not saying for one minute that will happen this time but we went on that run at the end of last season and Cookie lost his job. But the Gaffer cannot legislate for individual mistakes and I made a bad one.

Good of him to put his hands up and say he made the error. I agree with him really, the manager can't really do more than he already is with the players at his disposal imo. I think to fire him would be a massive risk; there's not much chance we'd attract someone much better considering the position we're in. I think we're best to let him see out this season and have a proper pop at next season after having had a year to make the team his own a bit more.
