I've basically stopped using Twitter and use Bluesky instead, I didn't do it for my political beliefs. I don't use it a great deal but when I'm on the throne, I want to waste some time, scrolling through without being bombarded with hate. Arguing for the sake of arguing (I can get enough of that on here), trying to get a reaction to drive engagement & bots. It's just spiteful and full of hate on Twitter.

I haven't been on for long but I've barely noticed any politics. I don't want it, that includes 'my side', I don't want to hear the state the country is in, how bad the Tories are, how bad Trump is, how Israel are blood thirsty genocidal c*nts.

Leave me alone, I just want to take a shit in peace, interacting with posts about Football, TV & Film, Music, Jokes, etc, etc. It's quiet but so far its been a better experience.

On topic i like the theory of BlueSky, but when I went over it seemed so… insipid I guess is the word. Twitter is a shit hole, but sometimes shit holes are the most interesting place. If BlueSky can avoid being the Truth Social of the left is probably move over but I value reading diverse views.
Sounds good in theory. I didn't leave Twitter because of "diverse" views. There's diverse and there's extreme. Twitter is overflowing with extreme views, whether that is racism, misogyny, hate speech, etc. I don't want to see/read that stuff.

I joined BlueSky over a year ago when you still needed an invite code, but never really used it that often. Deleted my Twitter account the morning after the US election. I said on another thread that Twitter will become the propaganda arm of the Trump Administration. I'm not having any of that. It's a cesspit of right wing nutters, bots and ads. BlueSky is a breath of fresh air. @torchomatic.bsky.social

In another development The Guardian have this morning announced they are no longer using Twitter. Hopefully more serious news organisations will do the same.

Don't forget Only Fans chicks... Twitter makes me look like some sort of thirsty pervert......

I don't need a social media platform to tell me that!

It's not the club. They confirmed last night.
Ah thanks, Lee. Something didn't seem quite right. I did hear someone say they were considering having a BS account too. Hopefully, they will. I pretty much rely on the Twitter feed to tell me when the next away match is going on sale.

Can't stand this sort of journalism, what point are they trying to prove. She said there was an age limit but would have to check what it was and the journalist was given that information immediately after the interview.

Unless you think the person doing the interview is single handedly coding the site and vetting sign ups its a complete non-story.

Yeah was listening to that on my drive into work this morning. Normally don't find 5live bad at blowing stuff out of proportion.

She clearly just got flustered and forgot/hadn't prepared. Not a great look but also not some big gotcha journalism moment. The whole idea is that the platform is open source with, they aren't hiding anything. You'll never stop kids going online and this isn't aimed at them anyway so I doubt they are going for the TicTok or Snapchat crowd anyway.

The way Bluesky has grown in the last few weeks there are bound to be hiccups. Bit weird to go after them for the kid angle as they are one of the only sites that let you design your own feed and ignore grim stuff unlike most of the others

Some are so desperate for a leftist safe space that logic has gone out the window. If this was Musk being interviewed about X you wouldn't be calling it a non-story that he couldn't answer the age of use. You would be all over it.

At the moment the whole thing is a child's science project and it's a bit of a joke.

Not as desperate as right wing nutters are to try find a flaw!

It's so tragic. Most people move to Bluesky because they are sick of what Twitter has become. For a lot it's not even political thing. They just want a space where you aren't fed an agenda. It's a place you can opt in or out of things.

It was a non story, they obviously have age rules just like everywhere else. Yeah she fluffed her lines but that's all it was.

Ok mate. Enjoy your safe space.

Ok mate, enjoy your hellhole. auto playing animal torture videos, casual racism and relentless bots.

This is the problem, you assume everyone who isn't a leftist like you - is a far right radical who sits on twitter. I am neither.

The same kind of dramatic polarisation and screeching just overwatched Trump get elected.

Like I said, enjoy your safe space echo chamber. You are clearly suited to it.

What the fuck are you on about? I just don't want to be on twittter anymore, its gross on there for countless reasons.

why does that annoy you so much. such a weird reaction.

The only weird reaction was yours. You came out with some weird far-right bumbling nonsense and inferred I lived on twitter just because I pointed out some criticisms of Bluesky.

Then again, you don't want to get challenged on these silly opinions, so like I said, stick to to Bluesky. It's appropriate...

Genuine question. Do you like what Twitter has become?

The bots? The proven pushing of Elons agenda? The extreme content just mixed in with everything else? The crap drop shipping and crypto adverts?

Not even considering politics can't you see why people are sick of that stuff and just want something closer to what it was like a few years back?

I've said multiple times on here that twitter is a cesspit.

I absolutely would not be all over Musk if he answered a question with I don't know I'll have to check and then supplied the correct answer minutes later. tbh it would be a better question to ask Musk given he is the one running a platform where porn and graphic violence is readily available yet you can sign up at 13 and even if you're younger there's basically zero checks in place.

If and when Bluesky has the same issue then age restrictions become a more relevant question for them to answer.

Then why can't you see why people want to try something different?

I can, but there's a difference between wanting to try something different, and wanting to create a left wing echo chamber where your views go unchallenged. Very few will admit it, but it's very clear to see already. Anyone who doesn't conform is the enemy.

Look at you, I made one comment about Bluesky and you got on the defensive and accused me of sitting on twitter and being far-right. You're proving my points.

But people have been saying Bluesky is now awash with the same material, and that's why people are reporting things. Or is it really just people reporting things because they can't handle a difference of opinion? Either put Bluesky in bad light.

If you run a platform and don't know the age restrictions it is a massive red flag and looks severely amateur.

No I didnt! you read into my comment "Not as desperate as right wing nutters are to try find a flaw!" as me talking specifically about you, I wasn't I was talking about the way a small slip in a radio interview (which was almost instantly corrected) was blown way out of proportion to highlight all over the place to stick the boot in.

I couldn't give a shite how you vote or your world view... Anyway you brought up Leftist bubble nonsense before I even commented on your post.

don't be so fragile

Can only go off my experience. I'm on both atm, if i look at the same post about a hockey game last night on twitter the replies are full of bots with porn and all sorts of other unrelated crap that I'm not interested in, all paid for blue ticks of course. If I look on Bluesky the replies are all related to the original post.

The big change on twitter was deliberate. Musk gave the OK and porn etc and put a system in place where if you pay your replies are prioritised. It was at that point things went deep into the sewer.

Add in that it keeps defaulting you back to a feed of what twitter wants you to see rather than what you actually follow and its no wonder people are complaining.

You can't get upset with what I've written originally and go into a frenzy, only then accuse me of being the one that is fragile.

I'll leave it at this: Some people cannot handle their opinion being challenged and want to sit in a leftist safe space which will essentially be an echo chamber. You are one of those people. You've demonstrated that very clearly.

Please crack on and enjoy it whilst it lasts.
